That’s surprising, unless they have insider knowledge of redevelopment coming very soon; there is no way they’d have their children go to school with the permanent underclass, and private schools left those areas a long time ago (there is no tuition-paying clientele).
Even the hipsters in urban areas with better law enforcement tend to move to greener (and whiter) pastures if children come along.

It really is a shame; this story will disappear quickly now (or be misdirected completely into a gun-control lecture), and those five children of the cop will face Christmas without him. I’d imagine the same is true of the other victims, though I haven’t seen any details on their families yet.

vast majority don’t have kids nor do they plan to. As part of my job, I spend some time with the beat cops (I’m not LEO). Cops hate the hipsters, makes their jobs much harder... 5 years ago, only whites over there were dope fiends, not anymore. The residents in the ghetto are furious because they hate the hipsters because they’re white... this is a major american city FYI.

I’m sure there is tension between white hipsters and the black underclass (beyond the obvious race-hatred, which would seem one-sided considering the whites will enter those areas); blacks tend to see the arrival of hipsters as the writing on the wall - their days are numbered.
In NYC there is a lot of tension as Asians move into new government housing in some parts; last year the news had some gibsmedats bemoaning the fact that the Asians were taking “their” new apartments.

In Dearborn,MI a Muslim and an Orthodox Jew had their arms around each other's shoulders, smiling in a story about a shortage of strictly Kosher meat for a holiday that was solved by the Muslim's Halal meat as a replacement. They said they have been friends and colleagues for years.
But these types are not part of the problem any more than the gunmen who push past the gun Free Zone signs at a military base, church or school.
