I'm torn on this. On one hand, it's kind of cool that BLM headquarters will now be in Grand Junction. On the other, I just know these FedGov minions are gonna screw my beloved town up!!!

There won’t be many DC critters making the move - and they’ll likely hire locals instead.

Which, I suspect, was the point.

This Freeper is a former BLM-er who had to leave a job he really loved just to continue living and working in the DC area. I can speak from personal experience that the 280 some people affected by this decision are not swamp dwellers, and the whole point of this relocation was to dismantle the agency, as everyone is quitting. Mick Mulvaney from the White House admitted that at a political fundraising event in August.

I love Trump, and will vote for him again next year, but this was a stupid decision. BLM is second only to the IRS in terms of money generated for the Treasury. It makes no sense to dismantle a proven moneymaker.

For now, absolutely. Much farther. We'll see how this goes and whether that changes.

I am former Reclamation and I went where they told me. Happens in private sector all the time. Its not dismantling an agency, its moving its HQ to the geographic area it serves.

They are trying to force people out. Not many will move from DC. Its a good way to remove dead wood.

Moving entire government agencies out of Washington DC is one of the best ideas of the Trump administration.

Reducing the concentration of government employees in the capital will at least reduce their noxious influence on the politics of Virginia and Maryland.

That is my biggest fear. The anti-American leftists have destroyed the Front Range, and are working hard to do the same to us here on the Western Slope.

Not so sure about that. CO real estate is absolutely out of control.

I watched a military agency go into various gyrations over moving from Arlington, VA to Fort Meade (roughly 48 miles). Probably one-third of the organization vowed that they would find new jobs and refuse the job move. I wasn’t in the group but it amazed me over the frustrations of these people. Some of them lived 50 miles to the south of Arlington, and this was going to flip into a 80-minute drive (one-way).

For 18 months, they vowed that they’d find jobs in DC. In the end...virtually all of them failed in finding new jobs, and all were concreted down to the new job site.

True

I think 300 people, over 12 states, won’t make much impact- this time.

I look at it more like metastasis.

The DC critters are too profoundly stupid to seize this opportunity to move to the United States.
