It's not a coup. It's a civil war.

Lately, it's been convenient — and self-serving to some — to call what is going on with the Trump administration a coup. It's a "soft coup" or a "silent coup" or a wish-it-were-a-coup.

Let's take a look at what that means. According to all definitions I can find, a coup is a sudden, often violent overthrow of a government. Every time I look up the definition of a coup, I get something like this from Merriam-Webster: "a sudden decisive exercise of force in politics." But there is nothing sudden about this.

Have you ever thought, "What would a modern civil war look like?" Tanks rolling down the streets of Washington, D.C.? Missiles targeting the Congress? Armed forces storming the White House or Capitol Building? None of these would accomplish anything. So what would a modern-day civil war look like?

At least since the 1960s, a faction of people have been looking for a chance to make our government conform to what they think it should be. This faction has identified itself in many ways, and its members always embrace Marxist ideals with a top-down government run by a few. A "law-based" government, on the other hand, would have a constitution to protect the rights of the minority from the "tyranny" of the majority. That is what the United States of America is: a law-based government founded on the belief that those working in government are employees of the people, and not that the people are subservient to them. And all decisions are to be based on our agreement to form such a government — that is, as spelled out in our Constitution.

All democrats are presently guilty of conspiracy to overthrow the elected government. Such action means they have forfeited their right to life and liberty

Let’s be blunt and precise - they are guilty of TREASON, and last I remember, the penalty and punishment for TREASON was a firing squad........

Democrats could not care less about the Constitutionalists of the United States. That makes this a war.

The overthrown happened on Usurpation Day, January 20, 2009.
With the complete cooperation of the GOP.

“All democrats are presently guilty of conspiracy to overthrow the elected government.”

What about the dems who vote against impeachment?

If that conflict cannot be resolved to their satisfaction through the instrumentalities of the provisions to do so, and so they decide to overthrow it and replace it with their own views or ideas, we have a war. We have those circumstances playing out before our eyes (and ears).

Precisely. Every time someone says CWIII is coming, I say, look around. We've been in it for 30+ years!

I don’t know but I’ll be viewing most of it through my Leupold.

A predicate to civil war is the reality that the population no longer shares a common consensus of cultural values and beliefs that once united it. Sorry but America is divided in many ways and there is little or no common ground between the huge gaps. What decent minded conservative can break bread with a wild eyed, pro abortion, hedonistic, decadent socialist? Would you want such a person to enter your home? About 35-40% of the population has values, beliefs and opinions that are an anathema to decent people. Violence will occur when frustration boils over and decent folk are injured by the decadents.

They are guilty of trying to save their worthless hide?

It’s been a Cold War for decades, going back to the 1910’s, actually.

The blatant coup attempt and gun-grabbing moves are warm actions, encouraged by BHO’s wins and actions, and conservatives’ apathetic weakness. They will go warmer...

Are you suggesting you think some Republicans will to impeach?

I wonder what folks who have actually been through civil wars think of all this civil war talk applied to the current state of US politics and culture.

... and then 8 years later, when the people took their government back via suffrage, the 2nd Civil War began at noon, January 20, 2017 - and continues to this day.
