There is nothing to be gained by calling witnesses. They will just attack Trump.
That will never happen. Cruz will destroy these witnesses on the stand.
Cruz is right. If you just dismiss it, then the Democrats will run on the claim that “Moscow Mitch didn’t hold a trial because evidence would have come out showing Trump guilty, and so now you need to elect Democrat senators to hold Trump accountable in case he manages to win his reelection.” Of course that is nonsense, but the MSM will back that up 100 percent 24/7, so it is dangerous to follow what Lindsey Graham is talking about. Trust Trump. He wants witnesses.
My understanding is that no senators are allowed to do any exam/cross, but simply sit and listen.
