HOUSTON (AP) Houstons incumbent mayor won a second term on Saturday night, holding off a millionaire trial lawyer whose previous support of President Donald Trump had become one of the main campaign issues.
Mayor Sylvester Turner defeated Tony Buzbee during Saturdays runoff election. Unofficial results released by the Harris County Clerks Office on Sunday morning show Turner capturing just over 56% of the vote. More than 200,000 votes were cast.

Considering Houston keeps electing Shiela Jackson Lee and Green, what else could you expect.
Houston is well on its way to Shithole Status!

yeah not winning. It would have been a good, albeit unexpected, win.

millionaire trial lawyer whose previous support of President Donald TrumpDoes someone know if this person ran away from his support of Trump? If so, they are an idiot. Your one chance to let rational voters cast a positive ballot is lost and they've a choice between a socialist and someone who turns their back on those they supported. To me, that spells 'we stay home.'

Buzbee prevented Republican Bill King from making the runoff.
That was Buzbees only job.

I have lived in Houston many times growing up there in the 1950s, 60s and 70s. I always had great memories of living there. Left there in 1976 and let us say, I have no earthly reason to move back--
Along with the Peoples Socialist Republic of Austin, the majority of native Texans hold their heads in shame at how low those cities named for Heroes of the Republic have fallen to!

I’ve read that Tony Buzbee had a superb primary run but an awful general election run, so I am inclined to believe he ran as a spoiler against Bill King, who has promised many reforms that the powers that be didn’t want.
The reelected mayor is a typical corrupt Democrat, so he will likely be investigated by the FBI and put in prison eventually.

That’s the way it works in NYC, too. Millions of voters, really tiny percentage turnout. Hmmmm....

I don't think Bill King has ever been a Republican. He's always been identified as an "Independent," and even talked about an independent run against Cruz for Senate.
Look, I get the argument for King over Buzbee, but lets not delude ourselves into believing there were any Republicans or conservatives in the Houston mayor race. There were none.
