In his opening statement during Thursdays Democratic presidential debate on PBS, businessman Andrew Yang took a few swings at the media for being untrustworthy and smearing good Americans in their pitiful explanations for why Donald Trump was elected president.
It's clear why Americans can't agree on impeachment, we're getting news from different sources and its making it hard for us to even agree on basic facts, he declared. Congressional approval rating, last I checked, was something like 17 percent, and Americans don't trust the media networks to tell them the truth.
He then pointed out that the media couldnt accurately understand why President Trump was elected, so they resorted to using fearmongering and smears to explain it:
The media networks didn't do us any favors by missing why Donald Trump became our president in the first place. If you turn on cable network news today, you would think he's our president because of some combination of Russia, racism, Facebook, Hillary Clinton, and emails all mixed together. But Americans around the country know different.
We blasted away 4 million manufacturing jobs that were primarily based in Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Missouri. I just left Iowa. We blasted 40,000 manufacturing jobs there, Yang explained.
Adding: The more we act like Donald Trump is the cause of all our problems, the more Americans lose trust that we can actually see what's going on in our communities and solve those problems.
In wrapping up his opening statement, he argued that we needed to stop being obsessed with impeachment because Americans already knew the outcome and Trump would on the ballot in 2020:
What we have to do is we have to stop being obsessed over impeachment, which, unfortunately, strikes many Americans like a ballgame where you know what the score is going to be, and start actually digging in and solving the problems
I hope they continue. It just makes it clear that the ‘rats and their compliant media are not ever to be entrusted with power over us.
Yang tries for a head fake to the right.
Someone has realized that they are loosing the Midwest and Rust Belt.
Well he’s staking out his ground... not sure why he is even on the stage, but he clearly thinks there is a lane for him...
Good points but manufacturing jobs are only part of the reason. Yang is off base on most social issues like every other lefty.
Trump is not losing any state he took in 16... no matter who the nominee is...
The Dems had no shot pre impeachment, snowballs have a better chance in hell than they do now that they have done this crap.
If Yang were smart, hed be a Republican.
Andrew Yang gets it. Democrats are too blinded by rage at Trump to care.
Theyre doubling and tripling all the mistakes they made in 2016.
Love it!
Just Damn.
The man now doesn’t stand a chance in the dem primary.
+100
Applies to most of the populace.
Yang is very entertaining. He was the only one on that stage with any spark!
Whaddya know. A Democrat who still has some functioning brain cells.
However, if they rig the elections and the electoral college, then they won't need us any more and they can and will do whatever they want to us. We still have leverage. However we may not in the future.
Give that man a can of Redi Whip.
I went to Yangs website. His campaign platform calls for a chinese style of govt. Commie.
“Just Damn.
The man now doesnt stand a chance in the dem primary”.
That’s right. They don’t allow anyone to step away from the narrative.
I believe Yang called himself a person of color last night.
I did not even know he is colored.
He’s taken a cue from Gabbard. A Democrat in that crowded circus is not going to achieve name recognition by simply braying the same slogans as all the other candidates.
Yang might as well be talking to himself. He’s basically right on this, but the media and Democrat party (same thing) are not going to listen.
