A former NFL player who once raised money for Barack Obama says a political "awakening" among African-Americans is underway that could translate into President Trump winning 20% of the black vote in 2020.
Jack Brewer, now a businessman who formerly played for the Minnesota Vikings, New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles and the Arizona Cardinals, said the move to Trump is easily explained by policies that are making life better for his children, the Washington Times reported.
"There is a tremendous awakening going on right now in the country," he said regarding black voters who have traditionally voted Democrat.
Trump received just 8% of the black vote in 2016. But two polls in November found approval for Trump among blacks had reached 34%.

Less than 3 years in and Trump has gone from 8% to 34%.

Trump will increase his share of the black vote to about
12%, with the increase completely in the male vote; not a significant number...
There’s zero percent chance of Trump getting 34%.
He won’t get 20%.

In close elections that will make a difference. And hopefully, that will also translate to more votes for other Republicans farther down on the ticket.
If a Hillary or a Michelle O enters the race, Trump can kiss the black vote goodbye.
Someone needs to tell those Florida kids that beat up the kid on the bus. They are still in the Obama reparations camp.
It’s a start but will it flip any states?.......if demonrat fraud could be eliminated Trump would win handily imo....need to get NY and CA out of the republic...

I expect the next presidential election to be as close as the last one (due to Democrat cheating). So this shift is significant.
But you do have a point. 20% is a low number. For decades blacks have been only been presented one side of the story. Hopefully, this will change.
Black men are, well, men. As a big over large generalization they seem to be less feminized then white men and are certainly far less welcoming of homosexuality. The biggest dividing line in humanity is male vs female. The female black vote may go for Michelle but it doubt the male vote follows suit.
Many black men are now waking up to the fact that their role in society has been replaced by old white democrats. And white men are following that same path.
Blacks usually vote demonicRAT at about a 95% clip so even a 5 point drop will spell disaster for demonicRATS.
Hispanics* vote demonicRAT at about a 75% rate. A 5 point drop in support also spells disaster for 'RATS. And President Trump has made great inroads on that front as well.

Fortunately, those two will never be on the ballot for any election ever.
I shrugged off all that fatalism...as I will this.
At 20% it guarantees Florida and NC are not close and Pennsylvania would make it an offset against suburban white women. In Michigan it locks it up.
Virginia possibly flips back to Red. Where it might makes things interesting is in New Jersey and Delaware.
Don’t overlook the move to Trump by Hispanics either. New Mexico, Colorado and Nevada being particular targets. Helps with New Jersey too. Many liberal NJ residents have left the state in the last 3 years.
That’s not true at all. That number tips states like Pennsylvania and Michigan very quickly. The Dems had a near lock-in this vote, and if we earn a few percent each cycle, the political landscape changes radically.
