New York Gov. Cuomo Says Monsey Hanukkah Stabbings Fueled by Intolerance
Associated Press ^ | December 29, 2019 | Charles Passy

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo called a Saturday night stabbing attack at a rabbi’s home in Monsey, N.Y., an act of domestic terrorism and said he was directing the state police hate-crimes task force to investigate.

“This was a despicable and cowardly act,” Gov. Cuomo said in a statement about the attack in Monsey. The hamlet, located about 35 miles north of New York City as part of the town of Ramapo, has a large Orthodox Jewish population.

The attack, which left five people injured, took place at an event at a rabbi’s home, according to media reports. The gathering coincided with the seventh night of Hanukkah, the Jewish celebration known as the festival of lights.

A suspect who fled the scene was taken into police custody in New York City shortly after the attack, according to reports.

At a Sunday morning press conference near the site of the Monsey attack, Ramapo Police Chief Brad Weidel said he had no idea about the suspect’s motives, but noted the suspect would be facing five counts of attempted murder. Mr. Weidel also said that two people remained hospitalized from the attack.

The incident was the latest in a series of recent attacks targeting the Jewish community in the New York-New Jersey metropolitan area, including a shooting at a kosher grocery store in Jersey City, N.J., earlier in December. Three people were killed inside the store during that shooting.

The very last line of a Associated Press/CNN article describes the suspect, Thomas Grafton, as a "tall African-American man".

When a hate crime is committed by a white man, as in the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting, the labels "white supremacist" and "white nationalist" will be used. When the assailant is black, general "intolerance" will be blamed, and biased people who don't follow the story closely will be mislead.

Doesn’t Cuomo know black people cannot be racist since racism is, at least to the Left, about power ... and not power in the present but apparently in the past?

Of Amish heritage no doubt.

It gets worse. Cuomo said the attacks were intolerable, but so are the attacks on the LGBTQ community as well as blacks and hispanics.

WTF

Whites weren't mentioned, nor was the fact that 12 out of the recent 13 antisemitic attackers were released due to Cuomo's reforms.

This guy is sick in the head and the fact New Yorker's voted for this guy tells me all I need to know about NY.

One report said two of the critically wound undergoing surgery were the rabbi’s young children.

I hope I am wrong but this might be PR for Cuomo. After all, look at the laws he signed into law starting 2020 especially the ones where prisoners’ will be released because of the crime they committed and will only need to show up at the court trial. Also where people who committed crimes in your home can come back into your home before the trial. And less not forget the abortion bill, etc. Keep saying California and New York are fighting for last place.

I can believe that, but do you have a source?

Hate is a Motive, it isn’t a Crime unless Orwell’s Novel “1984” has replaced the United States Constitution.

".... New York Gov. Cuomo Says Monsey Hanukkah Stabbings Fueled by Intolerance...."

The same intolerance Gov. Cuomo exhibits and fuels when he says things like he's glad President Trump has taken up full-time residence in Florida because New York and New Yorkers are not about his kind of people and that goes for the 62 million Trump deplorable supporters, as well. New York is doesn't want them, according to Cuomo.

His statement is not about diversity and tolerance but hate and intolerance.

Cuomo is so myopic, that he doesn't realize he is part of the problem, not part of the solution, as he claims.

Maybe he should keep his own prejudices and biases to himself, Gov. Cuomo, instead of spreading them on the public airways for others to pick up on.

The Pittsburgh shooter posted a manifesto, it at least an outline detailing his views.

Is he Thomas Grafton? Some reports are calling him “Grafton Thomas.”
In any case, from his photos, he looks similar to those MAGA rednecks who tried to lynch Jussie Smollett.

It's more than 'intolerance'. I'm really sick of that word - particularly as used by people who clearly will not tolerate anyone who disagrees with their rigid world view.

Ironically, when Cuomo used the term 'intolerance' he unintentionally referenced a very real problem contributing to these tragedies. Political correctness - and how it is used to shut down discussion, fuel 'shout-downs' of those who would dare not comply, and both allow and promulgate 'politically correct' beliefs that are destructive and untrue.

White people are bad and have oppressed and continue to oppress 'people of color' - who are mostly virtuous, with the exception of those who have been forced into crime etc. by a prejudiced and 'fascist' society (as AOC just proclaimed during a Bernie rally).

'The Jews' are living on land they stole, and that rightfully belongs to the Palestinian people - who the Jews are oppressing.

Democrats are 'good', and care about 'the people', minorities, and the 'downtrodden', while Republicans are bad people who support white supremacy, rich people, and holding down the 'oppressed'.

These are just a few examples of WIDELY held beliefs that fuel the behavior of too many people, and that are used by others to manipulate society politically. The only way to truly change these beliefs is to throw political correctness out the window, and directly challenge those who hold these beliefs to defend them in open public discussion.

Efforts to do this will be met with a huge backlash, as is evident in the reactions to President Trump's openness and dialogue against politically correct but false beliefs. It is essentially, however, if we are to save our nation.
