CBS News' Major Garrett applauded President Donald Trump and his administration for making strides to help minority communities. According to Garrett, Trump's successes are a "legacy" that "almost any president would want to claim."
Garrett named a number of the administration's successes, including funding for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and the passage of the FIRST STEP Act, which focuses on helping inmates reenter society and slow the recidivism rate.
"It can be fairly said that this administration, because of President Trump's quiet prodding, has done quite a bit for funding of Historically Black Colleges and Universities. The FIRST STEP Act, which was a massive first step towards criminal justice reform..." Garrett explained. "Just a couple weeks ago in this newly-signed defense bill there is a law that says if you are seeking work for the federal government or any contractor, you don't have to be asked – and you can't be asked – about your criminal history until right toward the end. That's a significant change long sought by criminal justice advocates. Plus opportunities owned in the tax bill directed at communities of color."
"That is a legacy, on the agenda side, that almost any president after three years, would want to claim," Garrett concluded.

He’s not doing it for a “legacy.”
Major Garrett giving more credit in one sentence than the entire MSM have done in three years.
I watched that; Major Garrett then predicted that voter turnout in the 2020 election would be high, a 100 year record of about 70%. He did not explicitly link that with Trump’s actions to help minorities, but that was the inference I got.
I’ve watched the election night 2016 videos (quite a mood lifter) and Major Garrett’s performance that night indicated he was contemptuous, concerned, appalled, as Trump’s chances went from zero to ninety-nine.
Sounds like he is detailing the very reasons the Democrat Party should Re-Activate the KKK.

Trump isn’t motivated by concerns over HIS legacy, which is why he will actually have one....
Unlike every other modern President that worries about such things and will be largely forgotten in time.
He’ll be looking for work soon.
I can still remember when Major Garrett was a conservative reporter. Maybe, just maybe, he’s turned back to the Force.
I hope his resume is updated.

Don’t be lulled into thinking Major Garrett is becoming a Trump fan.
No reporter has perfected the post-report “smirk” better than he.
Just watch him, after any story he does on the President.
“I can still remember when Major Garrett was a conservative reporter.” Same here, he as pretty good for FOX news. Don’t know why he turned away.
Garrett and Katherine are reporting behind enemy lines but soon the giant CBS ship will start listing to the right.
CBS gets it. Let ABC and NBC fight over the leftist viewers.....they’re staking out a place where independents and conservatives can get their info in the midst of the corporate broadcast media world.
