Precisely— Iraq is a WAR ZONE, which the Iranians have been in for the last 2 years, supporting ISIS. They were in a WAR ZONE,and thus... with the company they were keeping being targeted, subject to a conflict event. A “cross fire” as it were.

It’s simple— Iranians, and Hezbelloh are legal war targets in Iraq. Iraq is still part of the War on Terror.

And don’t forget we are sending in elite 82 Airborne troops out of Bragg, as well as Kuwaiti Marine Units to defend and drive out any harm to our Mission and Embassy.
