According to my dictionary “retaliate” means “To return like for like,” or “Take revenge.” According to my Theasaurus other terms like “retaliation” include: vengeance, reprisal, punishment.

Could you please identify your resource for your definition and also what WORD you would use to describe it. Writing “continuing the assault made which began the engagement” is such an awkward “word”. Also, could you please define the event which started the engagement. I am so glad to find someone who can help me with my inability to identify who the aggressor is, and who the defender is as it is unclear from your comment.

I spent over a decade in the military.

General Blownapart initiated an attack on Americans at Benghazi and Again in Baghdad. Two foreign counties not his own.

Being blown to pieces was a reprisal, and he was a legitimate military target.

If Iran kills a bunch of civilians someplace they are not legitimate military targets engaging them in a foreign country, now are they?

You refuse to concede that the dipshit Jihadi was a military Target who was engaged in terrorism.

There is no “Like for Like” here.

What Terrorist general do we have engaged in killing Iranian civilians do we have, gleeaikin?

Where is our “like” target?

The Iranian general wasn’t a bystander, and the people who he killed in the past and was trying to kill at our Bagdad embassy were mostly civilians.
