Methodists are splitting over the issue of homosexuality?

I never thought I would see homosexuality become so prominent, as to cause schisms in religion .

Thirty something years ago the talk was about the “gay agenda”, which of course was denied. But I remember those warning of the agenda saying their goal was to “infiltrate churches”.... here we are, and have been for a while.

Who in their right mind would follow a Shepard that cannot enter into the Kingdom of God?, or honor a path that does the same?

It will be the entire lgbtq here shortly. Men in women’s bathrooms, man/girls, bi 3way marriages.

Just watch.

Better to split now.

Don’t be lulled into thinking they don’t want to bring that into the church, too.

I think it is about more than homosexuality. It is about accepting all of the sexual revolution - basically Hugh Hefner’s Playboy Philosophy with a bit of religious language thrown in. It is also a revolt against the idea that anything has a nature - instead everyone can do anything and identify as anything. One’s subjective feelings take precidence over reality - it is rather a moral imperative to deny reality.

I agree, I could see slavery in the 1840’s being reason for a split. It is an example how unfocused we have become. Sexuality is an important part of being human but in the last 60 years it has become a sick obsession. It makes me wonder if all of this is more than a question on religion and is just a question of the subversion of our morals and society. I am against this and would welcome a hard breakup of the UMC. A stand must be taken for what is right .

Thank Hollywood, the media, but especially the government school system. When Christians stop sending their children into these cesspools, perhaps the culture will change. Until then, no complaining..

United Methodism is already dying in America......but it's always been pretty liberal. Even as a young kid, when we wandered the neighborhood visiting all the churches, there were two that we didn't like how we felt in.....the Methodist and the Presbyterian.....they weeren't friendly toward kids.

I never thought it would be big enough to destroy a once proud organization like the Boy Scouts of America either.

It’s not about homosexuality as one issue. It’s about following God’s Word as the standard for the church. The Bible is not ambivalent about homosexuality, calling it an “abomination” to God.
Why would any so-called Christian church want to accept ministers who are abominations to God?
Before Jesus ascended to heaven, He instructed His disciples to “go and teach all nations,...teaching them all things I have commanded you.” We are not free to change or omit the parts of the Bible that we do not like.
