Not symbolic. Political. They hope to provoke Trump into a disproportionate attack and then use the anti-Trump hatred aka TDS of our media and the democrats to rail against Trump as a crazed lunatic.
The Trump haters would use the fact that not one American was killed yet, Trump went berserk and overreacted just like we said he would. He’s unhinged! He’s UNFIT! He’s DANGEROUS! And, the leftists would use this against Trump from now to November.
That is the Iranians play with this attack that lasted hours but apparently killed not one American. They are trying to set him up.
That’s my two cents.
Time to (quietly) declare victory, and move on. No need to retaliate for an impotent attack.
The missile attack in conjunction with the airliner crashing after takeoff causes me to believe they wanted us locked and loaded for when the plane with 180 people on board flew over really threatening like. Only for some reason, it crashed on takeoff. Who in their right mind would take off in an airliner from Tehran tonight? NOBODY.
