Some still believe it was shot down by a missile fired from a US Navy ship during a training exercise. Sorry, but that is tinfoil hat nonsense. There would have been hundreds of witnesses on the ship, for one thing. I always suspected that an Iranian tub fired a missile as revenge for the Vincennes incident. I do not dismiss the possibility that this incident was an Iranian attempt to avenge Soleimanni on the nearest Western target available.
