House Passes War Powers Resolution In Rebuke Of Trump's Actions Against Iran
Fox News ^ | 1-9-2020 | Andrew O'Reilly

The House of Representatives on Thursday voted in favor of a War Powers Resolution meant to limit President Trump’s military action toward Iran following an escalation in tensions between Washington and Tehran.

The resolution passed, 224-194, mostly along party lines, but both parties had some defectors: eight Democrats voted against the measure and three Republicans voted in favor of it. Independent Rep. Justin Amash, who left the Republican Party last year, also voted in favor of the measure.

"We deserve the respect from the administration and that Congress deserves under the Constitution,” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said on the House floor. “The Constitution of the United States calls that there be cooperation when initiating hostilities.”

The resolution is non-binding but is meant to reassert congressional authority and rebuke Trump’s decision to take out Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani in a drone strike last Friday while he traveled to an airport in Baghdad, Iraq. Trump did not consult with congressional leaders ahead of the attack that killed the Iranian military leader and afterward sent Congress a notification explaining the rationale but kept it classified.

The resolution “requires the president to consult with Congress 'in every possible instance' before introducing United States Armed Forces into hostilities."

Resolutions aren’t worth the paper they are written on.

Democrat resolutions aren’t worth the paper or the ink to create them.

According to CNN

Republicans Reps. Matt Gaetz and Francis Rooney of Florida as well as Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky all crossed party lines to vote in favor of the resolution.

but is meant to reassert congressional authority

If it is non-binding, then it cannot have the effect stated in that sentence, politically or legally.

Semantics. Shenanigans.

The swamp creatures that most desperately needed to be
informed, are currently engaged in a seditious conspiracy
and coup attempt, in order to avoid what’s due them for
their various crimes.

Operational security dictates that they remain uninformed.

Preferably until their arrests.

Democrats can’t stop Trump. This is the political equivalent of wagging their finger at him.

Trump doesn’t care about their so-called rebuke any more than he cared about their impeachment.

He’ll do what he has to do to protect America, the Democrats be damned.

Congress has no business meddling in military affairs.

They can not like what he did all they want, but TRUMP is the Commander-in-Chief of the military and it’s his decision to make.

Nor did he declare war. He oversaw a legitimate military action that needed being done for national security, even if it meant taking out the dems hit man.

Trump’s approval rating. ~46%

Congress’ approval rating: 14%

Go scratch, Nancy.

Boo Hoo, you can't do squat until you okay it with Congress.

Lazy bastards created this situation in the first place by agreeing to the War Powers Act. Almost every time it is used to eradicate allies of the left, they trot out yet another nonsense vote that means nothing.

The Republicans that joined the Yes vote are also cowards of the worst kind, IMO.

Dear Morons in the Democratic Fascist Party

We have no need for any more meaningless “non binding” PR Stunts. We need you clowns to finally do the jobs you were hired to do.

Still trying to wrap my head around liberal thinking. Trump is condemned for a troop pull out of Syria, but also condemned for fighting Iran?

I’m fortunate in that my rep is Lee Zeldin. Very big supporter of POTUS on.most issues. His dissent comes on issues like repealing the new SALT deduction rules and such.
