The Air Force base in Tampa is on lockdown while law enforcement officers respond to reports of an active shooter. TAMPA, Fla. — Law enforcement members are responding to MacDill Air Force Base after reports of an active shooter.
MacDill confirmed the base in Tampa was on lockdown Friday morning, but the lockdown has since been lifted. The base confirmed it is still investigating the possibility of an active shooter.
No further information was immediately available. Traffic is at a standstill on numerous roads around the base near downtown Tampa.

MacDill is the home of CENTCOM and its contingency of ME “allies”. When I was there, they were the bane of all things civil. In my opinion, they were actively spying on the US plans for OIF (at the time).
One day I hope we will be free of all such entities (ME allies) on our soil.
Why is downtown traffic affected? Only way should be across Gandy Bridge to the Bayshore to downtown. I-75 traffic shouldn’t be affected by this. But Tampa traffic being what is, it is permanently “affected”.

My son-in-law is stationed at that base even though he is in the Marine Corps.
Reports here are that it was a domestic dispute that started elsewhere and ended up near the base.
Hmmm....
