FLOYD CO., Va. (WSET) -- Floyd County is responding to potential new state gun laws with a militia muster call.
The Unorganized Militia of Floyd County will muster at the Floyd County Recreational Park at noon on Saturday, January 18.
The group says the purpose of the call is to "preserve tranquility, peace and civil order" with a group of volunteers that will come together in case a full militia is needed to "defend the rights and liberties" of the residents of Floyd County.

We are beginning a sanctuary county movement here in Kentucky in response to statements from our flashy new dem governor. Militia movements are a natural outgrowth of this. So it begins.
The fatter they are, the easier to hit...slower and wider make good targets.

Indeed so and a larger portion of HIS country is in the nearby Ferrum area of Franklin & Henry counties.
Been awhile since I’ve traveled it and a map isn’t much help but motoring along east of Floyd on Rt. 221, a humbling view of a valley is suddenly revealed. For me that view rivals that from atop Afton Mountain on I-64.
Though not fortunate to reside in the area, family has resided in the area for 10-11 generations. That said, my favorite spot is near Ferrum in Henry County. There’s a small community from which only trees and distant mountains are visible. Somewhat bewildering until one realizes being atop a plateau that’s the local high ground.
They don’t want to have to cart some old timers around in wagons...

IMHO, any man or woman who is old enough and strong enough, and not afraid to pull a trigger when threatened, should be welcome and should join a 2nd Amendment militia.

Actually it is west of Franklin and Patrick counties.
Patrick is west of Henry county where Patrick Henry was born.

BS. At 71 I can still hit center mass. Even with a bumb hand. Took lots of dry fry practice to learn to do it.
