There is some comedy -- and rough justice of a sort -- in Monsanto now being desperate for the EPA to rescue it from adverse international research findings that Roundup is a potential carcinogen. Monsanto and other agrichemical vendors long fought the EPA as to the harms of DDT and other early and highly toxic products they sold to be so promiscuously sprayed on our foodstuffs for decades. Now the hated EPA is supposed to save Monsanto from the trial lawyers!

The larger point is that, like the tobacco companies before them, Monsanto and others in its line of business are notorious for heavy-handed tactics against both business adversaries and scientific critics, for paying off researchers, and for creating a mass of biased and unreliable scientific studies that they use to defend their agrichemical products. With a major case pending in the federal Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, Monsanto will soon get its day in court. Why isn't that enough?

What "adverse international research findings" other than the one unscientific and biased French advocacy group meta-study?

What a pantload. The EPA under Trump is finally embracing evidence based science and all you can do is side with the anti-capitalists who want to destroy a company commercializing products that prevent people from starving.

That you don't like the fact Monsanto stands athwart those who would crush them, based on junk science, is revealing. Are you a Luddite who attacks Monsanto because you don't like or understand GMO's? There is no legitimate scientific evidence showing Round Up causes cancer, or that DDT used for mosquito control is hazardous to humans, or that anything they promiscuously (LOL!) sprayed on your food did anything other than make it safer. Monsanto is targeted by scientific illiterates and anti-capitalists (redundant, I know) because it feeds people and makes them less dependent on anti-capitalists and scientific illiterates. What's your excuse?
