How times have changed...in the 1970’s I used to purchase a case of Hercules 65% dynamite at a local hardware store. I had to fill out a form, I think it was a federal form, probably like a firearm purchase permit??? Can’t remember, but the hardware guy would either have us follow him to the magazine, or would bring the case in later in the afternoon. Could buy det cord and blasting caps too.
A buddy and I had a small dredge and were mining on rivers in Calif. I spent 5-years as an underground miner and was very familiar with handling explosives.
Now people get upset if someone discovers a mortar round or three in a vehicle.
