Most of these trace their roots to the fall of of the Shah in 1979. They are secular and don’t wear Islamic garb in the main. They speak English and have acculturated well.
UC Irvine boasts many Iranian tech entrepreneurs and inventors that have spawned public companies. In my experience with Iranian immigration since 1979 in LA, it has been a net positive.
