I don’t question but that Trump’s tariffs trade threat/posture have worked generally to get more of what he wants in terms of negotiated deals.
I just a) don’t agree with his priorities/approach and b) don’t buy it that the Chinese are going to comply with their deal. They never do. And by the time the next two years are up there’s a good chance that Trump will either not be in office or that he’ll be into the late, lame-duck stages of his second term.
If they cheat, he will. And they will know *real* pain.
