Bloomberg wants all new cars to be electric by 2035 (Pander 2020)

Democratic presidential hopeful Michael Bloomberg wants all new cars to be electric by 2035, according to a plan released by the former New York City mayor's campaign on Friday.

Bloomberg's campaign said he would instate mileage and pollution standards and "put in place an aggressive schedule to put the U.S. on pace to make 100% of new vehicles pollution-free by 2035."

Bloomberg's plan also calls for building metro-area public transit and intercity rail and bus systems and incentivizing local governments to prioritize "zero-emission" transit systems such as biking and walking. His campaign did not specifically outline how much the plan would be expected to cost.

"My plan will ensure that electric vehicles and charging infrastructure are affordable and accessible to all Americans," Bloomberg said in a statement. "I’ll roll back President Trump’s efforts to weaken emissions standards, create more clean energy jobs, and drive us toward a healthier, carbon-free future.”

Not only would we have to build the cars and the extra power generation, but millions of people live in places like apartmment complexes where there is no electric outlet close to the parking space.

The Bloomin’ Indiot’s ads conclude with “Mike will get it done.” But they don’t say what the “it” is. If people knew, they’d see he’s as wacky as the rest of them.

Just like tires, they will be filling landfills. They eventually have to go somewhere.

Better start building nuke plants yesterday.

The additional power demand would be unsustainable on the grid with the present generating facilities.

So when the power grid is out for prolonged periods if time, how do you charge your car? Because the power will be going out all the time when everyone in the damned city is plugging in their cars.

I wouldn’t be surprised if hybrids (optimized gasoline generator engine/small battery electric car) became very prominent. But we don’t need Bloomberg putting his thumb on the scales, telling us what to do.

An analogy would be LED light bulbs It took a while for them to mature, but I find them to be far superior to incandescents. The color rendition is very good (for some at least), and the cost of operation is far superior. But, I don’t need a busybody like Bloomberg or Obama banning incandescents. They would have been mostly supplanted by LEDs without the government’s heavy hand.

All these carbon ending green new deal fantasy plans miss an important point. There are no farm machines like tractors and combines let alone farm trucks to haul harvests that are electric. Fertizers and pesticides that allow high yields are petroleum derived. Going back to horse drawn farming not only would not produce enough food but horses are flatulent creatures. So how do these eco-loons expect to produce food?

Silly goose. They go to the store and buy it.

When the power grid was impacted by the fires in California, plenty of hipsters couldn’t recharge their cars.

Hard to sell the concept in areas that dealt with similar outages after Hurricanes Sandy, Katrina, Hugo, etc.

Look at Puerto Rico today, and imagine trying to power an electric car...

Hybrids offer something, but are too expensive for most normals.
