Romney loses GOP support in Utah after challenging Trump on impeachment

"Utah Republican Sen. Mitt Romney lost support from Republicans and independents
in his home state during the weeks after he called for witnesses in President Trump's
Senate impeachment trial, a new poll shows. The Morning Consult survey found support
for Romney, 72, going down after he called for former national security adviser
John Bolton to testify at Trump’s impeachment trial, which began on Thursday.

... In the prior quarter, 65% of Utah Republicans supported Romney, and
while a majority still do presently, that number sank to 57%.

... Democrats claim Trump pressured Zelensky to dig up political dirt on former
Vice President Joe Biden, a leading Democrat vying to take on the president in November 2020.
Following the release of the transcript of the call, Romney described the
conversation as “troubling in the extreme.” ....

Romney is part of a small group of Republican senators who say they want to
hear from Bolton, one of the witnesses Democrats say should testify.

IF the people of Utah had any sense at all, they would Tar, Feather and then run Pierre Delecto out of their state on a rail.

Mike Lee, too.

UGH.

WAY too high. How is 57% approval even possible?

I'd guess Romney is at about 36% nationally, not that it matters.

Agree. Romney is 72 and wouldn’t be on the ballot for 4 years. I am certain he could care less about a popularity poll right now.

He won’t care. He’s a placeholder between Hatch and whoever they’re grooming to take the seat.

They were trying to prevent a conservative from taking the seat.

They knew he was a snake when they voted for him.

Are the Mormons like the Evangelicals, in that they're single-issue voters?

What’s with Mitten’s alter ego Pierre Delecto? Isn’t that behavior rather unbecoming for such a fine straight laced upstanding Mormon?

I remember, when it looked like Mitt Romney would prevail in 2012, George Soros himself said he could be “perfectly comfortable with a Romney presidency.”

She is almost singlehandedly responsible for Kavanaugh getting confirmed. She ought to be supported.

The single for Mormons is what their leaders tell them to think is best for their church. At the moment that seems to be open borders (for potential new converts) and kowtowing to leftists in silicon valley (for business investment in Mormon areas of the west). They’re pretty transparent about it, actually.

I think the only reason he ran was to have one of his sons take the seat after him. That’s the only logical reason.
