Trump administration planning to crack down on 'birth tourism': report
The Hill ^ | 01 19 2020 | John Bowden

The Trump administration is reportedly planning to unveil a rule this week aimed at cracking down on "birth tourism" — a term referring to pregnant women traveling to the U.S. in order to give birth and secure U.S. citizenship for their child.

Three officials told Axios on Sunday that the plain will be unveiled in the days ahead, though it was unclear what enforcement mechanism would be utilized by the administration to prevent birth tourism.

President Trump has previously threatened to issue executive orders nullifying birthright citizenship, which is enshrined in the Fourteenth Amendment to the Constitution.

"This change is intended to address the national security and law enforcement risks associated with birth tourism, including criminal activity associated with the birth tourism industry," one State Department official told Axios.

One senior U.S. official indicated to the news outlet that the rule set to be unveiled is just the first part in the process of cracking down on the practice.

"Rome wasn't built in a day," the senior official told Axios. "Just the legal recognition that this is improper and wrong and not allowed is a significant step forward."

I’ve seen multiple threads on the DUmpster about how his hotel properties make money off these ‘visitors.’ It will be an interesting spin.

The Center for Immigration Studies recently calculated that 72,000 babies are born each year in the USA to foreigners who are here legally.

Specifically, the foreign mother is in the USA on a tourist visa, a student visa, or a work visa.

How many Anchor Babies are born each year in the USA to a mother who is here illegally?

Close to 300,000 - every year.

Good. You can start with Orange County, California. Specifically IRVINE, CA where Chinese nationals are LITERALLY TAKING OVER..

Seeing 3 pregnant Chinese females walking together is NOT a coincidence. Just more evidence of 'maternity hotels' operating throughout the city. Everyone in Irvine knows it, how come the Feds don't? The commie State of CA approves, but this must NOT be allowed to continue.

Re: "How will Democrats oppose this and on what grounds?"

Why did Trump wait 36 months to start the crack down?

Will the crack down end on November 4th?

"...how his hotel properties make money off these ‘visitors...

What an absolute crock of crap!...

OTOH, any foreigner who can afford staying multiple days at one of his properties is rich and has other mechanisms for getting into the country to drop their spawn...

When the 14th Amendment was adopted, there was no intent to approve birth tourism, which didn’t exist at that time. The purpose of that amendment was to protect freed slaves.

Scumbag rat lawyers have billboards on the Mexican boarder with their phone numbers advertising to pregnant women to bring them over to deliver.

According to some Freepers, all those Chinese children of Chinese nationals are natural born citizens eligible to be President.

Just like the last King of Thailand.

Lets just add this too .....75 individuals were apprehended by USBP and AMO agents in TX on Wednesday. Immigration checks revealed the individuals were in the country 'illegally'... from the countries of Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.
