Man, Richard Jewell Hit Home!
American Thinker.com ^ | January 20, 2020 | George Zimmerman

I love just about all Clint Eastwood movies, but Richard Jewell is in a class by itself. This one was personal. This one Clint Eastwood made for me. Only a handful of people in America know what it’s like to be Richard Jewell and unfortunately, I’m one of them. Mr. Eastwood got it right. Two thumbs up!

I rarely ever go to the movies. Nearly seven years after my acquittal in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, I still have to be very cautious about where I go. A few years ago, a man took a shot at me and missed my head by inches. He will be in prison for another dozen years or so, but every time I see my name trend on Twitter, I am reminded there are people out there who would like to pick up where the assassin left off.

My gut reaction in watching Richard Jewell was sadness. The film reminded me just how much heartache an accusation this heinous puts a parent through. For those who don’t know the story, Richard found a suspicious backpack in Centennial Park in Atlanta during the 1996 Olympics. He alerted authorities to the backpack and helped clear the area.

Two people were killed when the bomb inside the backpack went off, but many more would have been killed if Richard had not acted on his suspicions. For a brief period, people called him a hero, but then the media and the FBI turned on him and accused him without evidence of being an attention-seeking security guard. They call it “trial by media,” and it is beyond horrible.

IS that what that movie is about? I remember that whole episode. Will have o watch it now.

George is contending that fat illiterate girl wasn’t even the one in contact with the angelic kid and that the prosecution went along with the charade.

Who knows? But that was a dark day for us all when his life was destroyed.

Amazing to live in a time where journalists are not after truth & the cops can’t be trusted. Pretty sad, too.

“Richard Jewell” is an amazing movie. People in the theater were bawling. I highly recommend it.

Very good movie. Plenty of parallels to how the Deep State has conspired against the President.

[At the end of the day, Richard Jewell and I had something else in common — we knew who our real friends were.]

If you had to think of only one reason to favor conservatives over liberals and Republicans over Democrats, it would be the latter’s love and excuse-making for violent criminals specifically, and criminality in general.

Journalists have never been after the truth they’re they to get you to read, listen and/or watch in order to sell their product - newspapers, magazines, TV and/or radio show. If there’s truth in their content its an afterthought.

Its good for their product & the advertisers that you think they’re doing something noble.

Can someone help me understand why Jewell was thrown under the bus in the 1st place?

Pretty sure they just really wanted it not to be Islamic terrorism, so they pinned it on the white guy.

Cops needed a quick resolve and the press gave it to them aided by reporter Kathy Scruggs

the article is excellent and right on the money. The comparisons between George and Richard are unbelievably similar. I like George a lot, I paid very close attention to the details of the case and the trial and I fully believe the wicked powers worked their asses off to railroad him. Thank GOD for Don West and the Holy Spirit that freed him.

I hope he’s still close with his brother as his brother was an excellent spokesperson for him when the trial was going on.

My guess is that a reporter heard a rumor or a “what if” scenario and the BS story took on life of it’s own.

From the link:

The media quickly all but pronounced him guilty.

“Richard Jewell, 33, a former law enforcement officer, fits the profile of the lone bomber,” wrote Kathy Scruggs and Ron Martz in the second paragraph of a story in an “Extra” edition of The Atlanta Journal on July 30, 1996. “This profile generally includes a frustrated white man who is a former police officer, member of the military or police ‘wanna-be’ who seeks to become a hero.

I was also impressed by the movie. The forces that tried to railroad Richard Jewell—the FBI and Big Media—are the same ones that are trying to railroad President Trump.

Jewell fit the profile of a red neck, right wing gun owner who lived with his mama. Not complicated.

The best part of Jewell was when the female AJC reporter traded sex with the FBI case agent for inside info. That was great.

A. Because of a snotty college dean (professor)
B. Because of a FBI behavioral analyst
C. Because of the media (Atlanta Journal and CNN)
They needed a quick answer about who did it rather than the right answer and poor Richard Jewell was their patsy.

Great movie: I hate giving money to Hollywood, but Eastwood tells a good story about a sad event.

“”Pretty sure they just really wanted it not to be Islamic terrorism,””

I don’t think “Islamic terrorism” was much on the mind of anyone in this country in 1996. The 1993 bombing of the WTC wasn’t on anyone’s radar - that’s how soon it was forgotten. IMO

At that time - the Clinton Era, they likely wanted it be “Right Wing Terrorism”. They left then had continued wet dreams about right wing militias. Remember Oklahoma City and how quickly the militia card was played to set the narrative.
