Technically, it's HYPERthyroidism. Also known as Graves Disease. It's a condition caused by an overactive thyroid...autoimmune. But, you're point is well taken. Bulging eyes can be due to a medical condition.

oops, just wrote the same thing. My mother had hyPERthyroidism, and one or both senior Bush’s also. Barbara had Grave’s disease I believe for sure.
