In a city the size of Wuhan, I’d imagine scores of people drop dead every day, mostly heart attacks or strokes. The death rate of this virus, based on reported cases and resulting deaths, is still fairly low.

WEBMD reports this about this flu season in the US :

“ The agency estimates there have been at least 13 million flu illnesses, 120,000 hospitalizations and 6,600 deaths from flu so far this season. That includes 39 children who have died from flu. ”

All that is true but, I read a doctor today. He said the 1918 flu wasn’t that lethal (percentage wise), but it was able to spread to so many it killed 10s of millions.

There are 800+ CONFIRMED cases of this virus so far. SARs only infected 8000 worldwide - and this thing has no vaccine and won’t have one for at least 12 months. Just sayin ...

This has nothing to do with influenza, except the possible outcome in a severe case.

Wuhan’s population is equal to New York City....

I don’t buy they’re dropping because of the virus. I do believe the Chinese are a superstiteous and fearful people based on years of bad leadership.
