The US Embassy Warns of Serious Consequences in the Event of Getting Close to it Thursday 23 , January 2020

Baghdad (NINA) - The American Embassy warned of grave consequences in the event of getting close to it.

The Embassy wrote on the walls of the external checkpoints warnings of approaching them without official approval, threatening serious consequences if they crossed them.

The warning came with the launch of a million demonstration on Friday to expel foreign forces from the country. / End

Rush mentioned that the embassy houses 16,000 employees. That is not an embassy, it is a city. Why? Shut it down, bring these people home and leave a contingent to do the real work of an embassy. 16,000 people? This is absurd.

It cost $1B to build this juggernaut building. It has to be kept occupied.

Wrong. Just because it is there does not mean it has to be occupied-—reminds me of base line budgeting. This nonsense has to stop.

In this computer age, why have embassies in terrible countries? Virtual meetings are cheaper!

Outside of Israel it is the most concentrated area of intelligence, surveillance and rapid response in the area.

Just my guess.

If the Embassy in Baghdad employs 16,000 people, then it must be the bureaucratic center of our Mid-East projection of power.

Some Iraqi must be getting filthy rich when the Embassy sends out for breakfast, no? I daresay there are people who might think that would be good for the local economy.
