40 mins into this and there are 135 posts here. Yesterday it took all day for the trial thread to reach this number.
what a difference. Watch the hands. I’m sure the body language people know how to interpret them but I don’t. The dems were limited only to a few gestures, mostly holding on to the pages they were reading and pumping them a la jimmy kimmel style. They were limited to about three basic stiff moves. Dems read their script as if it were the first time they were reading.
Today, the hands dance, are fluid and move in natural motions. The Team use their notes as notes, not as script that needs to be read word for word. There is eye contact with the theater. They waste no words.

President Trump’s defense:
Article I: Abuse of Power
– It’s a “made-up theory,” not an impeachable offense
– Trump’s hold on Ukrainian aid was justified by the Constitution’s rules on presidential power
– Trump was right to ask for Ukraine investigation into the Bidens and their possible conflicts of interest there. Joe Biden’s status as a presidential candidate does not “require the government to turn a blind eye to potential wrongdoing”
– Trump’s allegedly improper motive for the request is disproved by the transcript of his call to Ukrainian President Zelensky and testimony that he pressed Ukraine on its corruption problems as far back as 2017
– Charges of an improper motive are “speculation built on hearsay,” not first-hand testimony
Article II: Obstruction of Congress
– Asserting legal rights and privileges by contesting congressional subpoenas is not “obstruction”
– House subpoenas were illegal – issued before the vote to open an impeachment inquiry
– Department of Justice advised Trump to contest House subpoenas
– Top presidential advisers have “absolute immunity” from congressional testimony
– Trump was “defending the separation of powers” with his refusal to cooperate

In my view, Patrick Philbin’s somewhat unemotional presentation is amazing. He takes his personality out of the issue and slices and dices the D’s on the facts. If I was sitting as a member of the jury he would have my complete attention.

Brilliant approach, flawless delivery. In 2 hours, Cipollone and team destroyed Schiff’s 23 hours of crap. The witness clips and SChiff’s own clips totally nuked every point of fact that is central to Schiff’s case. All while facing an attentive senate and not torturing them with endless nonsense.
