Bump!
Has he said anything about there not being a preponderance of evidence that Trump did anything wrong, yet?
Mike Purpura IS SO GOOD at this I fully expect Schifty to come running onto the Senate floor screaming, “I GIVE UP!!!!
GOOD MORNING!
40 mins into this and there are 135 posts here. Yesterday it took all day for the trial thread to reach this number.
what a difference. Watch the hands. I’m sure the body language people know how to interpret them but I don’t. The dems were limited only to a few gestures, mostly holding on to the pages they were reading and pumping them a la jimmy kimmel style. They were limited to about three basic stiff moves. Dems read their script as if it were the first time they were reading.
Today, the hands dance, are fluid and move in natural motions. The Team use their notes as notes, not as script that needs to be read word for word. There is eye contact with the theater. They waste no words.
A methodical autopsy of the dead horse that the impeachment managers dragged into the Senate.
I haven’t been able to watch it but my dad told me Sekulow is destroying the Rats. Sounds awesome, plus I was thinking more people must be watching this today as it’s not a work day for most.
The brief filed this week by President Trumps legal team outlines how they plan to fight each of the two articles of impeachment passed by the House of Representatives.
President Trumps defense:
Article I: Abuse of Power
Its a made-up theory, not an impeachable offense
Trumps hold on Ukrainian aid was justified by the Constitutions rules on presidential power
Trump was right to ask for Ukraine investigation into the Bidens and their possible conflicts of interest there. Joe Bidens status as a presidential candidate does not require the government to turn a blind eye to potential wrongdoing
Trumps allegedly improper motive for the request is disproved by the transcript of his call to Ukrainian President Zelensky and testimony that he pressed Ukraine on its corruption problems as far back as 2017
Charges of an improper motive are speculation built on hearsay, not first-hand testimony
Article II: Obstruction of Congress
Asserting legal rights and privileges by contesting congressional subpoenas is not obstruction
House subpoenas were illegal issued before the vote to open an impeachment inquiry
Department of Justice advised Trump to contest House subpoenas
Top presidential advisers have absolute immunity from congressional testimony
Trump was defending the separation of powers with his refusal to cooperate
Source: Trial memorandum
I knew the defense team was going to be good, but dang. This is a brilliant opening strategy. Keep pounding!
In my view, Patrick Philbin’s somewhat unemotional presentation is amazing. He takes his personality out of the issue and slices and dices the D’s on the facts. If I was sitting as a member of the jury he would have my complete attention.
This thread should be titled The real Day 1 of the impeachment sham
Destroy 21 hours of House case in 3 hours. lets go home and relax
WOW! They are all done already until 1 p.m. Monday
Brilliant approach, flawless delivery. In 2 hours, Cipollone and team destroyed Schiff’s 23 hours of crap. The witness clips and SChiff’s own clips totally nuked every point of fact that is central to Schiff’s case. All while facing an attentive senate and not torturing them with endless nonsense.
Excellent prayer by chaplain.
I feel good. :)

they need witnesses, etc to extend this farce longer next week to keep Crazy Bernie, Lie-awatha, and others from campaigning in Iowa, NH...
the establishment clearly has chosen Sleepy Joe, their primary is a sham.
First words out of Cavutos mouth was a lie. Trumps lawyers emphatically stressed corruption was behind Trumps decision on Ukraine aid.
Fudge Nap will cause me to destroy my tv.
Im out.
