A tweeted video is now being cited in the media. The subtitle is wrong - the 90,000 number in the video is the number of dead, not infected. The lady in the video claims to be part of the medical staff in Wuhan. Where she obtained that number and how it was collated is a mystery. But it is nonetheless an important data point, given the Party's tendency to treat bad news as a state secret, and disclosures of especially bad news that can be blamed on the Party as a capital crime.

Many Westerners live and work in those big cities that have been hard hit and are now quarantined. Just wonder if any Caucasians have been infected or sickened. Population genetics is very important when considered susceptibility to a specific pathogen.

Translation note: My Chinese language skills are non-native and rusty since I'm not Chinese and acquired them Berlitz-style via expensive classes decades ago. But the phrase she used was 九万多人死 - jiu wan duo ren si - (courtesy of Google translate) or 90,000 dead. Maybe she misspoke. Maybe she thought that's what the numbers were, but she was wrong. But 90,000 dead was what she said in the video.
