Trump May Skip Debates, or Seek New Host, if Process Isn't 'Fair'

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump’s campaign is considering only participating in general election debates if an outside firm serves as the host, and his advisers recently sat down with the nonprofit Commission on Presidential Debates to complain about the debates it hosted in 2016.

The Dec. 19 meeting between Frank Fahrenkopf, a prominent Republican and co-chairman of the commission; Brad Parscale, campaign manager for Trump’s reelection effort; and another political adviser, Michael Glassner, came soon after Trump posted on Twitter that the 2016 debates had been “biased.

He's bluffing. There's no way he will ever walk away from a debate with one of these cupcakes. Biden? Sanders? Warren? Not a chance.

The moderators will all be leftist shills taking the Dem side on every point, and Trumpasaurus will eat them too.

No more Candy Crowley coordinating answers with Hussein Obama?

No more CNN giving Hillary the questions in advance?

No more Donna Brazille giving the RAT nominee the questions ahead of time.

BTW, I cannot think of even one Faux (Fox) anchor I would trust to fairly moderate a debate.

More rallies and carefully vetted one-on-one interviews would be much better!

Nothing wrong with bluffing during negotiations. Better than accepting the swill they give you.

I don’t think there will be any Repube Primary debates.

President Trump owes the hateful networks nothing but a kick in their teeth. He can spend his time revving up the base with his great rallies instead of wasting his valuable time prepping for the Democrats’ Gotcha Sessions.

I’ve been thinking and hoping since 2016 that President Trump will finally be the one who demands some conservative debate moderators. Republicans should have years ago refused to participate in debates with nothing but leftist, MSM moderators.

Because they cry the most. Look where we are, 3 years, 2 months, 18 days since the 2016 election and democrats are still having a cry baby tantrum every day over the result.

I wish there would be moderators, such as :

Mark Levin, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Laura Ingraham, Larry Elder, and others from the talk radio world.

I think things would be discussed differently, if there were “diversity”, if you will, in debate moderators, and how the questions and debates are framed.

Debates are intended to be between rational people with specific rules. There is no reason for President Trump to partake in a rigged lopsided soviet-style interrogation and coordinated attack masquerading as a ‘debate’. None.

In the elections of 1964, 1968 and 1972, there were no "debates." (I use the term "debate" because it's really just a joint press conference, not a real debate.)

In 1964, Johnson did not want to give Goldwater legitimacy by appearing on the same stage with him. In 1972, Nixon used the same logic with McGovern.

In 1968, it was understood that if there were going to be "debates," Wallace would have to appear on the same stage with Nixon and Humphrey. Neither candidate wished to grant Wallace legitimacy. The Democrats were afraid that Wallace would steal blue collar union votes from Humphrey, and the Republicans were afraid that Wallace would steal southern votes from Nixon. There was genuine fear that Wallace would grab enough electoral votes to throw the election into the House, which would have created massive political chaos and crashed the financial markets.

Trump should not appear on the same stage with the Democratic nominee lest that give the Democratic candidate legitimacy.

Too bad Gwen Ifel (spelling) died last year. For a Lib, she was very un biased and fair. I really liked her. In fact, she was the only Lib Ive ever liked.

There should be at least one debate hosted by Rush Limbaugh, Mark Steyn and Mark Levin. You know, non-partisan media people — to balance the other non-partisan media people.
