I think obvious Trump supporters are not the best idea - just like obvious lefties are a bad idea.
There must be SOME honest, unbiased people. Sharyl Attkisson? Lara Logan? Maybe there’s no middle ground when it comes to the president....I don’t know.

POTUS should insist no network specific debates. Let them be open feed to all with 3 or 4 cameras only. Each candidate gets to pick one moderator. They alternate questions. This should result in fairness of views represented. No town hall debates with questioners pre-screened or pre-written by the MSM or DNC.
