New York Times: Bolton draft book manuscript says Trump tied Ukraine aid freeze to political investigations
CNN ^

Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump in August told his then-national security adviser John Bolton that he wanted to continue holding military aid to Ukraine until the country helped with investigations into Democrats -- including former Vice President Joe Biden -- the New York Times reported Sunday, citing multiple people's descriptions of an unpublished draft manuscript by Bolton.

Its all timed by Bolton. Manuscript send to WH on 12/31... a few days later Bolton offers to testify.... all you need to know.

Mitt is greedy and power hungry. Unlike Trump, he has no defined self position and adjusts like slime to the environment that helps him to be a parasite.

I was at first concerned with Trump’s greed and arrogance. I thank the Democrats for keeping him humble if there is any silver lining to the Dark Cloud.

One of the greatest experiences influencing Trump was the humility of losing his brother. It was very painful for him and the experience taught him the limits of his power. Very humbling.

If there is any witness to be called here it’s the New York Times reporter who wrote the story.

Let the Trump defense team list the NYT reporter as a witness and watch the Democrats go ballistic. In an evidentiary process, it is necessary to determine the validity of the evidence and the chain of transmission before it goes back to the source.

A news report about an “unpublished manuscript” is not evidence.

AS I have said from the very beginning, back in August - the only correct defense, the only one with a chance to prevail, was "You're Goddam right I ordered the Code Red!"

"Quid pro quo" is not only not illegal, it is the essence of affairs between States that do not involve warfare. When FDR traded destroyers for bases in the Caribbean, should he have been impeached?

No, of course it's not evidence - but that's not why it was published.

It's Bolton's testimony that's evidence, and there need to be three more Republicans who request it for it to be admitted. Now there will be not three, but ten.

Why do you imagine Democrats in both the House and the Senate have been demanding Bolton, and only Bolton, over and over since August?

As soon as the White House stupidly adopted the "I didn't do it" defense, instead of the correct "I was perfectly within my rights to do it", this outcome was inevitable.

Bolton will testify, the GOP will crumble, and that will be that.

Good point. Even though it might be moot, if the NYT is engaging in its usual fake reporting.

AS I have said from the very beginning, back in August - the only correct defense, the only one with a chance to prevail, was "You're Goddam right I ordered the Code Red!"

That’s a terrible defense if there is no truth to it.

The Trump defense team has done an excellent job to date making two critical points: (1) There is no truth to the allegations; and (2) Even if the underlying charge was true, there’s nothing wrong with it.

They did a very effective job on Item (2) not by making the case that the President had the authority to impose conditions on U.S. aid to Ukraine, but by stressing that the President has an obligation to ensure that U.S. taxpayer money isn’t wasted on corrupt undertakings overseas.

According to insiders... an unpublished draft.

I’d give it strong odds that it says Trump tied it to fighting corruption and the rest is their interpretation.

“Just on time! Wow, DRAFT manuscript”

Wouldn’t the manuscript have to be vetted before being published?

...even if all of the Democrats allegations were true, that it doesn’t rise to an impeachable offense.

Nuff said. End of story but the left keeps digging.

Bingo....probably the NYC leftist javanka faction sponsored him. The administration oddly installed Obama holdovers and Bush neocons and now they wonder why this stuff never ends.

Let him testify. He knows nothing as he wasn’t even in on the phone call.

As Dan Bongino stated earlier today: What witnesses? There was no crime. There was nothing to witness. Who was the victim? Without a victim, there is no crime. There was nothing to witness.

Let me see, a fired, disgruntled, War Hawk, who the president said, (paraphrasing) never saw a country he didn’t want to attack or invade, who was fired by the president may have made an accusation that just happens to align with the people who are attempting to take the president down.
AND, it just happens to be leaked to the MSM the day before the presidents legal defense is to make their primary defense of the president. And, we are expected to believe the disgruntled War Hawk is believable and the president is not.
AND, it just so happens that for weeks the people who are attempting to take down the president have been clamoring for THIS SPECIFIC GUYS testimony.
Just a mere coincidence?

See my last post. If this comes down to conflicting statements between John Bolton and President Trump, I can’t think of any GOP Senators — including Mitt Romney — who would go out on a limb and publicly support Bolton. It’s political suicide to support an unlikeable long-time Swamp @sshole over a populist President.

This whole charade is comical because Ukraine has already received everything that was allocated to it by Congress.

It’s no different than you lending me your car for a week, and then calling the police TWO MONTHS LATER to report that I stole it because I returned it a day late. When the police come to your house to investigate the car theft and they find your car in your driveway in perfectly good shape, they ought to drop you down the stairs on your head and maybe even shoot your dog in the process.

They didn't do it because the full House never voted for impeachment, so Trump was free to shred any letters requesting (not subpoenas) to testify

They ahd their change after the full House did vote, and the impeachment moved to the Judiciary Committee (JC), where it should have been in the first place. However, the JC didn't call any fact witness, just the four alleged constitutional scholars. There were no subpoenas issued by the JC.

Transmitted for review to the NSC?
The NSC has several hundred employees, including the likes of Lt Gen Windbag, who is still on the payroll.

Bolton’s manuscript was leaked to the NYT. Whether that was his intention is yet to be determined.
