A top aide to former national security adviser John Bolton is disputing part of a Sunday report in The New York Times, which claimed Bolton had shared a manuscript of his forthcoming book with "close associates" -- and Bolton's lawyer is saying the National Security Council's review process of pending manuscripts is "corrupted" and apparently prone to leaks.
The Times reported that the manuscript included a bombshell claim that Trump explicitly linked a hold on Ukraine aid to an investigation of Joe and Hunter Biden. Trump told Bolton in August, according to a transcript of Bolton's forthcoming book reviewed by the Times, "that he wanted to continue freezing $391 million in security assistance to Ukraine until officials there helped with investigations into Democrats including the Bidens."
The Times further reported that Bolton had circulated "drafts of a manuscript he has circulated in recent weeks to close associates" and also "sent a draft to the White House for a standard review process for some current and former administration officials who write books."
Meanwhile, conservative commentators suggested Thursday evening that Bolton's team may be primarily trying to sell copies of his new book, and leaked the information themselves while using the media as unwitting tools.
Sarah Tinsley, a senior adviser to Bolton, told Fox News he had submitted a hard copy draft of his manuscript to the NSC [National Security Council] several weeks ago for "pre-publication review," but had not shared it with anyone else. The NSC is the White House's internal national security and foreign policy arm.
A "pre-publication review" is standard for any former government officials who held security clearances and publicly write or speak publicly about their official work. The review typically would focus on ferreting out any classified or sensitive material

I thought it was the president’s job to with hold aid from a corrupt government.
That is not the way it works. If 99 people out of a hundred say there was no quid pro quo, including the leader of Ukraine, and Bolton is number 100 and says different, Bolton will be the de facto accuser.
“But the timing is suspicious for sure.”
Or, as Brit Hume says, right on schedule.
“WTF is wrong with you, Bolton?”
That book is intended to be his golden parachute rounding out his career.
Don’t be so quick on Bolton. He is a Patriot and also loyal to the President. I believe the Persident “fired” him to get him out of range of the ambassadors who would soon attack the President. Since when is it the job of Ambassadors to dictate to the President? The dismissal of Yovanovitch is a case in point.

Didn’t happen! Bolton, the know-it-all, was and is his worst enemy. He probably has a job waiting for him at the National Review.
I dont think youll see him walking the halls at CPAC. That would be really stupid of him. Hes done.
Pelosi knew about the book being released. New the process of book review to go through NSC. Pelosi and house managers all knew what was in the book but couldn’t expose it. Also, Bolton used the same publisher as COMEY. Coincidence? No.
So, Bolton’s people leaked
Comey got an advance copy and leaked it
Evil twin Vinderman who is in the department of book review leaked
So many people willing to take this President down.
Yes, leaked the day before the President’s attorneys are to continue with their defense.
I read that Chief Justice can decide to subpoena folks.
I also believe Pelosi delayed the articles due to knowledge, conversations, plotting of book release timing of pre-sale which is today.
I’ve said many times here beware of DEMS they always have a plan BCDEFG. The case made by President’s attorneys won this week-end and right on time, a news leak. Just like the tape of Les Parens talking to President, leaked just in time.
There is more out there folks.
I wish there was a new law that banned WH cabinet members from writing and publishing books for x amount of years of serving, especially during an election year.
Don’t believe for one minute they didn’t know ahead of time. Why do you think they chose not to go to COURT and fight to have Bolton testify. Pelosi delayed the articles on purpose. Notice 30 days review period once provided to WH for review?
Dems knew they could leak some explosive bit from the book, true or not, the damage of the leak would get them what they needed. 1) Cause doubt to the point RINO’s would vote to have witnesses 2) Chief Justice would issue subpoenas 3) News media willing to carry the leak for weeks on end, especially during the timing of President’s attorneys doing his defense presentation.
I think it’s near impossible to fire Federal employee’s even for a President.
I don’t believe he is loyal to President Trump- not after he was fired and humiliated by President afterwards.
President really needs to grow up and stop the name calling when he fires one of his cabinet members. I’m tired of the nanny nanny boo boo childish name calling of people by our President.
I think you’re wrong about Bolton. You need to research more of his history.
Washington swamp dwellers leak like a sieve.
“Nonsense! If Dems get to call witnesses then Trump gets too as well. It is absurd to think it can work as you claim in the Senate.”
Interesting question.
The Rats introduced amendments to the senate impeachment rules, and those amendments were tabled (i.e., put aside until later). However, the Republicans introduced NO amendments, so the question is whether or not they can introduce amendments at this stage. I don’t know the answer to that. Though, I guess McConnell can do whatever he wants in that respect.
The most simple explanation that does not require a new conspiracy theory to make it work. Vindman is already a full co-conspirator in the coup attempt. The only new addition is that his twin brother, Lt. Col. Yevgeny Vindman, a senior ethics lawyer for the National Security Council (NSC), is in charge of reviewing all publications by current and former NSC officials. His brother had the opportunity, the motivation, and the manuscript.
You’re being niave.
I cringed when Trump appointed him.
He’s ALWAYS been a swamp creature. I have never ever ever liked or trusted the dude. If there’s an illuminati, then you can bet he’s right up in the middle of it.
IMO, things are shaking and WE have little knowledge as to exactly how this will all sort out.
Certainly believing something written in the NYSlimes, admittedly UNCONFIRMED by them, will do little to determine the truth.
Sure, but like Ballsy-Ford, the DNCMedia and democrats are now going to scream about Bolton testifying.
Another circus, just like Kavanagh.
It’s all a deliberate attempt at getting Bolton up in the Senate and prolonging this sham JUST as it was getting to be over.
Think of that the other way.
Bolton and Trump coordinate a leak forcing the testimony of Bolton before the Senate. Republicans get Biden and the whistleblower in the deal.
Bolton nukes the democrats with his testimony showing that Trump did nothing wrong.
Biden and the whistleblower obliterate their case and throw the democrats into death spiral when the real corruption is exposed.
