True. In a city of 11 million, in Winter, one would imagine at least 25,000 would have a fever from flu or colds at any one time.

I need to get another eye exam and new bifocals (seriously).
Maybe the scare has something to do with it, and maybe there’s a flu or two going around. On a side note, Wuhan is in a temperate climate.

Wuhan has a population of 11 MILLION.
So that is 0.00136% of the population...barely over one tenth of one percent.

the problem is that panic has set in, and everyone with a sniffle or fever from a cold is rushing to the hospitals where they then mingle with the truly coronavirus-infected ... NOT a good situation ...
And elsewhere they say on 4,500 cases. Our lying eyes...
Obviously they have been having numerous influenza outbreaks. No wonder flus originate here.

As noted above, there would probably be over 25,000 people with some sort of symptom of respiratory illness at any one time in Wuhan. (Even with no 2019-nCoV in play, I would add, esp. at this time of year.)
Cripes, even here (Mid-South USA), this time of year, it seems like 1/4 of everybody has some bug, a very good part of the time.
Then throw in the new scare, and add the hypochondriacs. The numbers just doubled, even if the new scare is actually only a few thousand people ill with 2019-nCoV. :-(
What I do NOT believe? That the situation is getting better. Admissions surely have ramped up a lot, but I’ll bet demand has soared way past that. Bagdad Bob may have a competitor.
