Sets where 3 plates come together. Same fault line as Haiti.

HAVANA (AP) — The U.S. Geological Survey says a powerful magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck south of Cuba and northwest of Jamaica on Tuesday.

It was centered 139 kilometers (86 miles) northwest of Montego Bay, Jamaica, and 140 kilometers (87 miles) west-southwest of Niquero, Cuba. It hit at 2:10 p.m. (1910 GMT) and the epicenter was a relatively shallow 10 kilometers (6 miles) beneath the surface.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

The quake could be felt strongly in Santiago, the largest far-eastern Cuban city, said Belkis Guerrero, who works in a Catholic cultural center in the center of Santiago

She’s been laying face down in a pool of her own vomit, with a box of Australian Chardonnay, for days, so I doubt she felt anything. Heh.

North Eastern California has some pretty solid Conservative areas.

You can pick places that aren’t in the middle of a forest or in the middle of a population area.

It’s great country.

Do you live up there? Are you having problems?

Just be advised; we have volcanoes up here, Lassen and Shasta come immediately to mind, not much action in our lifetimes but you never can tell when they will decide to go ape.

Fortunately most of the winds come out of the west and west-southwest, so most of the crap (ash, dust, etc) should wind up in Siskiyou, Modoc and Lassen counties.

But life is good here; I can hunt deer, bear, wild turkey, quail, dove, and in the nearby counties I can go for duck, goose, and pheasant. Up in the Skedaddle Mountains it’s good for quail and chukar partridge.

The rivers and creeks are good for salmon and trout, an hours drive to the coast is good for rock fish and Lingcod.

Just as an afterthought, I have my own rifle rang outside the front door (snicker snicker).

"Is 10km shallow or deep?"

10 kilometers is approximately 6.2 miles.
I don't know if that is considered deep geologically,
but it seems pretty deep to me.

There’s only 13,000 people in my county up here, we voted about 70% TRUMP.

Don’t know where you live, but you might think about relocating.
