Still, for their infrastructure it could be really bad. Maybe not if they’re lucky.

A lot depends on how the fault line runs.

Our Northridge Earthquake caused concentrated damage from Northridge down to the long beach area. That’s about 12-15 miles. Strangely enough, a mile off that line, and folks may not have received much damage at all.

Even a few blocks of that fault line was critical to the amount of damage.d

Not trying to say no damage happened at distance, but it was not what you would think would accompany a serious quake like that.
