The 6.6 Sylmar Earthquake was about the same size as Northridge and in the same general area.
There was a family in Fullerton’s hills 50 miles from the epicenter who had their swimming pool emptied by the quake. The water sloshed out in one big wave, taking a sliding glass door with it through the house. Barely missed hitting one of their kids. Inspired them to have the pool taken out.
Wow, that sounds terrible.
Glad everyone was safe. That could have been a real nightmare.
Yeah. And if it’s 7.3 that’s five-fold the Northridge Quake.
I’’ve been through them. I was in Monterey Park for the Northridge and Santa Cruz for Loma Prieta.
