Bastards, they are going to drag this out another month.

On the plus side - Warren, Bernie, Klobuchar and Bennet just took torpedos to their campaign ships.

Leaving Gropin Joe sailing alone, while the crippled campaigns of the others drop behind in column...

They need to start taking away all committee assignments from Romney, Collins, Murkowski and Alexander, and tell them all they will have well-funded primary opponents backed by the NRSCC in their next election cycle.

I think it is odd that McConnell disclosed this at this time. The vote wont occur until after questions. So I ask myself why. One reason is to get some Democrats on the hook who dont want witnesses and dont want to be on record for voting agaisnt. It’s not only a question of witnesses, it a question of time and the effect on voters. The longer the trial goes on, the more Trump solidified his base and the more independents move toward Trump. I dont see a lot of upside for Democrats in prolonging the trial. So I wonder if McConnell is trying to smoke out some Democrats.

Alexander is retiring. Romney doesn’t need money and is Senator for life from Utah due to his church. Murkowski already won one time with Democrat votes. Collins is almost certainly a goner in 2020 regardless.

It's McConnell who should be telling them that right now. And he has the power over the party machinery to back up his threats.

Mitch sinks our conservative senatorial candidates at will. If he wants you to lose your election, you will lose your election.

Very good point, and I am wondering the same. Even if true, why would you let that information out now? Could it be to take pressure off those 4-5 R’s for a few days, and give them some cover? Smoke out some dems who don’t really want to drag this out. I saw something this afternoon, that some of the 2020 candidates who are in the senate want to just vote and get it over with.

This is Kavenaugh 2.0. In the end, Mitch came through with Kavenaugh and is killing it on the federal judges. So lets see how this plays out. The senate is a group that really likes to compromise, so there may be some deal to allow something else.

He should do that anyway. At Lambeau Field. In a Gale, -20 Wind Chill with 90,000 screaming Patriots in that hallowed space. Or at Miller soon to be American Family Fun Park with the roof closed. Either one would be great.

Now, everyone, this you have to consider, the “witnesses “ will be cross examined. That may be a huge boost for us, US.

“The traitorous wretches in the GOP are going to lose the Senate, too. That’s good.”

This has been the Democrat Plan all along. They know they can not beat Trump. But if they take the Senate, it will be 4 years of nothing. Its always been the Senate.

I remember when Congress let GWB create courts (military commissions via executive orders), even though the plain language of the constitution says Congress has the power to create courts.

Took a couple years, but the courts got around to ridiculing Congress for rank dereliction.

Not that I expect the courts to ridicule congress over this impeachment fiasco, even though there are ample grounds to do so. Let this thing fester, and let the people see what sort of low-life scum is running the country.

And the "mighty" Congress refuses to take action to protect the people, as the deadly Corona Virus gradually infects the United States.

There is a large construction bucket of Senate GOP that only care about what their friends on the other side of the aisle in the Senate think.

It comes from believing it the greatest Institution in the World and living that cloistered club existence.

That’s all the matters. Read some memoirs, the Senate is all that matters.

He’s the presiding judge. It’s his courtroom. He’s the final authority therein, by definition.
