Looks like impeachment is a different animal - because the VP is tied at the hip to the guy being impeached...
I sense this is a case where Roberts wouldn’t interfere because he knows every word that Dershowitz uttered is valid - which makes the whole coup attempt unconstitutional - he’s have to relocate to a secure bunker if he came down on the dem’s side so staying purely neutral makes more sense.

Nate Silver at 538 (a conservative by no means) has predicted for quite a while now that the most likely outcome in the Senate is 56-44 for acquittal with all Republicans joined by democrats Joe Manchin, Doug Jones and Krysten Sinema voting to acquit.

Jones is also a certain NO Alabama is Trump country!!!I wouldn't bet on that. Caretaker will meekly fall in line with his evil party when push comes to shove.

The six Dem senators who are running for President must recuse themselves on account of their blatant conflict of interest.
If they will not recuse themselves, then the Senate should disqualify them from voting.
With that done, R's will have an easy majority.

I hope the Repubs are pulling a DiFi - cornering Dems in an alcove and blocking them from leaving while the Repub harangues them to vote acquittal.
I just don't see those folding cheap suits doing that, though - you know, decorum and all that...

What ever happened to the 18th witness to testify before Schiff’s committee?

“50/50 is not a majority, so the motion fails.
There is no need for a tie breaker.”
THIS ^^ is correct.
Neither the CJ or the VP is a Senator, so in an impeachment, neither can cast a vote.

1) Is the trial allowed to become a circus, particularly when the end result is a given, possibly damaging him in some way? That's the whole idea, to do as much damage as possible before the election. Let the media run wild with all of the fake news to keep the narrative going. In the end he will not be convicted in the Senate, but the damage will have been done. Which is EXACTLY their intentions.

Trump should immediately declassify the manuscript and post it on the white house website. Screws Boltons sales and removes the need for Bolton to testify. Very Trumpian
Instantaneous game changer
Devastating
Massive.

What ever happened to the 18th witness to testify before Schiffs committee? The Senate should demand the transcript of that testimony before proceding.

He is just not putting the screws to his RINOs on this. And that may not be a bad thing after all.
It will expose them and they will have the voters to contend with then.
It may be he's letting them sink all on their own by their bad decisions.

I wasn’t aware that the ‘tie-breaker- could ABSTAIN !!
Doesn’t that nullify the reason for a tie vote breaker in the first place?
To: wiseprince
The uncontested and at this point conceded statements by Bolton made it an issue for a public trial and therefore he surrendered his property rights in the matter. If the publisher has uncovered losses, to the extent they are not guilty of contributory negligence, seek recovery from Bolton or the leaker.

The media has been so busy hyping possible wavering Republicans that they didnt think about wavering dems .The media is fully aware of wavering Dems, but like the House manages, they like to withhold material evidence in their attempt to trick voters.
