Top Democrats fume after Trump expands travel ban to six new countries

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was one of a number of top Democrats to rip into President Trump’s decision to expand the travel ban to include six more countries on Friday -- with Pelosi describing it as “discrimination disguised as policy.”

“The Trump administration’s expansion of its outrageous, un-American travel ban threatens our security, our values and the rule of law," she said in a statement. "The sweeping rule, barring more than 350 million individuals from predominantly African nations from traveling to the United States, is discrimination disguised as policy."

The initial seven countries have restrictions on both immigrant and non-immigrant visas, but Acting Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Chad Wolf told reporters that the six countries announced Friday are very different from the current seven, which is why the restrictions are lighter.

“These countries, for the most part, want to be helpful, want to do the right thing, have relationships with the U.S. and are in some cases improving relations, but for a variety of different reasons failed to meet those minimum requirements that we laid out,” he said.

Criteria considered when judging countries included to what extent the countries share information on passports and prospective bad actors, as well as whether or not the country poses an elevated national security risk in relation to crime, terrorism and illegal immigration.

But the more nuanced approach did not appear to soften Democratic complaints about the move.

Oh yes Nancy...but the surprising side effect you DID NOT mention is that we have no bimbs going off in San Franscisco, no bimbs in New York and no bimbs in New York City.

That’s the true bimbo report!

If he did nothing, they would fume about that as well.

Definitely a lose/lose situation. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t.

Have a flood or national disaster and he doesn’t show- he is callous and non caring, if he goes-How dare he go there and get in the way.

I am still waiting for PDJT to sign an EO that DEMANDS all to inhale and exhale every few seconds.

Hopefully will lose a whole bunch of ‘em by defying his advice....

One of those rare occasions when I think Pierre Delecto actually nailed it:

“I think the Democrats make a mistake when they claim outrage time and time again. If everything is an outrage, then nothing is an outrage,” Romney stated.

Today and yesterday when the Vile Botoxian was speaking to reporters, her dentures were literally slipping around in her mouth. She had to keep sucking in her teeth with her nasty wrinkled lips, and then grit her teeth. It obviously was affecting her diction. She was noticably slurring her speech.

Come to think of it, her slurring was also probably due to the fact that she was drunk again.

Give her another bottle of Merlot and pop the cork. She’ll be OK after that.

The plane thing was instituted for the House Speaker after the 9/11 hijackings.

Let her use a Gulfstream. Her original argument was that the 757 was better for her long travel time.

Whatshisname, the pubbie from OH, first used a Gulfstream.

If she complains, let her ride in the back of whatever’s going her way at the time, even if she have to switch planes multiple times.

Actually the only thing I’ve seen was by a conservative that pondered if this was going to be Trump’s Katrina. Not that I don’t believe you, just remarking I haven’t seen it. But it certainly wouldn’t surprise me.

they cant defeat trump without illegal votes and those are getting harder to come by.

when a democrat uses the word “our” in a sentence, they are claiming ownership and rights of the very next word that follows.

just swap “our” with “democrat”

“our” rights
“our” constitution
“our” country
“our” democracy
“our” etc....

President Trump does have kids...

No family dynasties. This is a republic, not a monarchy.

Has nothing been learned from the Kennedys, Roosevelts, Caseys, Bushes, Cuomos, Rockefellers, Udalls, Romneys, Lodges, Tafts, and all the other worthless spouses and offspring that have been elected for no reason other than familial ties?

In any case, unless the Republican party itself becomes more nationalist & populist, we are cooked. There is no long term future in hoping for the next man on a white horse to ride in and upend things. We need a *party* on a white horse.

I agree with all you listed, EXCEPT, of course the Trump Family. But it may take another 8 years of Trumps in the White House to finally purge the old guard of the Republican Party - to get it where you, me, and about 95% of its voters want it to be (i.e., populist and nationalist).
