Bible in a Year:
He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
After several years of drought, the wildfires of Southern California left some residents thinking of them as acts of God. This disturbing impression was reinforced when news sources began referring to one as the Holy Fire. Many unfamiliar with the area didnt realize it was a reference to the Holy Jim Canyon region. But who was Holy Jim? According to local history, he was a nineteenth-century beekeeper so irreligious and cantankerous that neighbors tagged him with that ironic nickname.
John the Baptists reference to a baptism of the Holy Spirit and fire also came with its own story and explanation (Luke 3:16). Looking back, he was likely thinking of the kind of Messiah and refining fire foreseen by the prophet Malachi (3:13; 4:1). But only after the Spirit of God came like wind and fire on the followers of Jesus did the words of Malachi and John come into focus (Acts 2:14).
The fire John predicted wasnt what was expected. As a true act of God, it came with boldness to proclaim a different kind of Messiah and holy flame. In the Spirit of Jesus, it exposed and consumed our futile human effortswhile making room for the love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, kindness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control of the Holy Spirit (see Galatians 5:2223). Those are the acts of God that He would like to work in us.
How has your life been affected by the work of the Holy Spirit? What does it mean for you to pursue a holyset apartlife before God?
Father in heaven, please replace our fear of Your Holy Spirit with a love, joy, and peace that is as priceless as our stubborn ways are worthless.
Hi Everybody!

Good evening, Mayor, and thank you for today’s sustenance for body and soul.
Hope your weekend rest went well and you are ready to tackle the new week as your back allows.
Good evening, ML...((HUGS))...more hiking for you and Penny?
Nice here, but quite cold still. They say by next weekend it will be in the mid 30s....NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
What a hero Wermuth was! Like all of our great military heroes! I can’t wait to read the rest of his story!
Perspective.
We in the lower 48 say that when it gets DOWN to the mid-30s.
You say it when it goes UP to the mid-30s. LOL!
Greetings to all at the Canteen!
To all our military men and women, past and present,
It's going to be hard waiting until next week to read part 2. Part 1 has left me almost breathless.
Howdy, Kathy.
Been watching the airport cam and the two moose that were hanging out at the AK Aviation Museum there all afternoon. They finally ran them off with bottle rockets. Had to close the N-S waterlane for a bit so the moose wouldn’t get spooked and run out in front of a plane landing or taking off. It would be bad news if a plane hit one of them. They are huge!
Good evening, Mooch...glad you enjoyed the story of today’s hero.
Have you had any snow yet?
LOL! Perspective is everything...d:o)
Howdy, radu! Hope you had a good day today. It was nice here and in the high 60s. Supposed to snow on Wednesday. Say whuuuuu????
LOL! It is!
Moose around airplanes are not a good idea. They are kept under close surveillance. They go where they want, when they want.
Glad you got a front row seat from the warmth of your house. LOL!
How's everyone doing this morning?
Howdy, LUV.
Yes, it’s been a pretty good day. Made a store run (cat litter, as usual. LOL), then brought a few more things over from the other house and hung a few more things on the living room walls.
Gorgeous weather for a change and tomorrow will start out gorgeous as well. Then rain and storms start moving in for the next couple of days. But no snow forecast for us. Crazy that it’s in your forecast!!
I’ve seen moose show up periodically at the airport but this is the first time I’ve seen them cross the ice to go to the museum. They were quite content there. I was surprised they weren’t run off sooner than they were since they disrupted activity on that waterlane.
So nice that they have 12-hour rewind so we can go back to see what happened during time we aren’t watching.
Did you have a nice, relaxing day?
Glad you got a chance to get out and to get some stuff accomplished. Guess the house is beginning to look like home now.
I’m not holding my breath on the snow part. They’ve said that before and it didn’t even get down cold enough to do it. i’d still love to see the looks on the kittehs’ faces if it did.
Watched the late virus show for a while, but I think I’ve just about reached my saturation point on that subject. LOL!! There are so many STUPID conspiracy theories floating around.
Gonna be going before long. I’m getting sleepy from having to get up early this morning. It’ll be good to sleep in tomorrow morning. See ya!
