A bankruptcy filing that could spell the end of the Boy Scouts of America is imminent, sources told The Post.
Crippled by thousands of child sex-abuse claims in multiple states and with more victims coming forward every day the bankruptcy case could reach into the billions, said one lawyer who represents 1,800 men who allege they were molested as scouts.
The filing, expected in Delaware, could come any day or in the next couple of weeks, sources said.
Its going to be a mess. If it takes a long period of time, its an open question whether the Boy Scouts will have any resources to keep operating while the bankruptcy is pending, said attorney Tim Kosnoff.
Any bankruptcy by the Boy Scouts would be historic given the breadth of the organization. It is active in every state and territory, and has seen millions of boys move through its ranks since its inception more than a century ago. The group kept files on thousands of abuse allegations made against leaders since 1944.

LDS pulled out, and that’s around a third of troops/kids.

See? Having homos in the Boyscouts is perfectly fine.
The decision to start girl troops perhaps, but the homosexual allowance is what cost them millions of members.. which is why they are going bankrupt.
Mormons pulled out once they made that announcement, which cost them a very large segment of their membership.. something like 2-3 million members if memory serves.
This was driven by one guy on the national council, can’t remember who it was, but he destroyed the scouts....
“where does it say -Most abuse cases were before gays were allowed to lead?”
Boy Scouts said nearly all the cases and lawsuits are from 1965-1985. BSA had a blacklist of over a 1000 men starting in the late 80’s early 90’s.
Billions for 1800 cases?????
Good analysis.
I remember a Nation Review cover (circa 1990) with a picture of a Boy Scout and the caption “The ACLU’s Next Target.”
i didn’t see that in the article? (Though i did speed read it- i might have missed it)- all i saw was that the cases went back as far as 40’s
“i didnt see that in the article?”
It was not in the article- I googled the story.
It was a terrible move that put millions of boys at risk from homopredators, but in my area the Scouts were already becoming a thing of the past. If anything, allowing gays convinced the foreign “replacement Americans” that they shouldn’t get involved in scouting.
Peers who involved their children in it (boys and girls) were turned off by the focus on fundraising instead of actual activities for the children; they didn’t remain involved for long (and that pre-dated the gay thing).
“Fortunately for me, he only favored the boys who didnt have fathers or older brothers.”
This was an issue for scouts and with coaches and clergy; single mothers would push them towards these people for male role models, unwittingly providing susceptible victims.
My town had not only Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, but we had Sea Scouts as well: https://www.facebook.com/KearnySeaScouts
The success of this group, and its eventually collapse, was probably attributable to the fact that it required a lot of parental input/fundraising (the boats cost a lot of money to operate - diesel fuel); it had no use for parents looking to dump off their children as an alternative to daycare. Instead of weekend camping trips, the highlight of the Sea Scouts was a month-long summer trip up to Lake Champlain; the large boat pictured on the webpage (a Korean War ASR - Air Sea Rescue boat, with bunks for 8-10) was fast enough for waterskiing (and they had a Vietnam-era PBR as well).
Decades of hiding sex scandals and abuse. Never sacrifice the innocence of a child for the good of an organization.
