Most of these sexual abuse cases happened way before Scouts allowed gay leaders.
We had a assistant Scout leader back in the mid 70’s all us Scouts felt uneasy around. The guy just gave off bad vibes and I was naieve back then to these things. One day he no longer showed up for meetings. Years later heard he made some passes and he was quickly and quietly booted out.

Yeah, we had our share of weirdos back in the 70’s, but I imagine actually telling them they’re welcome to be stalkers in an organization of kids doesn’t help. Here’s one thing I would tell myself as a kid back then if I could: don’t join the YMCA.
