As bad as recent decisions made by national headquarters have been, those 1,800 men claiming they were molested in the past go back to the 1940s. But actually, that is an infinitesimal number of complaints considering the millions of scouts over those years who participated in several tens of thousands of scout troops all around the USA.
A few bad apples really can spoil an entire, huge barrel. It’s a pity the complaints couldn’t have been handled legally as they happened over the years. But it also shows that pedophilia has always been a problem and recent changes in the scouts will only make it worse if the scouts manage to survive.
