I always have wondered why it is said they were/are ‘the chosen people’?
Were there no other choices , Or is it propaganda?
There were. The Torah was offered to other nations, too, but they demanded to see what was in it first, and then rejected it. The Jews accepted it sight unseen and promised to keep it unconditionally. Unfortunately, too many have transferred their loyalty to the DNC under the same terms, and suffer the brunt of it as a result.
There’s a famous poem in Yiddish, post-holocaust, begging G-d to choose some other nation and take away all the Jewish talent and creative genius and simply make us into washerwomen and peasants. G-d answered “no,” without doubt.
it Is a burden, genius. Chosen to bring the Ten Commandments and more to the world.
And the rest of the world was humping rocks and trees.
It is from the Bible. God chose to reveal Himself to the Jews and chose them as "His people".
