Key witness told Team Mueller that Russia collusion evidence found in Ukraine was fabricated.

Editors Note: Just The News officially launches later this month but we are offering you a sneak peek with this story of the sort of reporting we will be doing.

One of Robert Mueller’s pivotal trial witnesses told the special prosecutor’s team in spring 2018 that a key piece of Russia collusion evidence found in Ukraine known as the “black ledger” was fabricated, according to interviews and testimony.

The ledger document, which suddenly appeared in Kiev during the 2016 U.S. election, showed alleged cash payments from Russian-backed politicians in Ukraine to ex-Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort.

“The ledger was completely made up,” cooperating witness and Manafort business partner Rick Gates told prosecutors and FBI agents, according to a written summary of an April 2018 special counsel’s interview.

In a brief interview with Just the News, Gates confirmed the information in the summary. “The black ledger was a fabrication,” Gates said. “It was never real, and this fact has since been proven true.”

Gates’ account is backed by several Ukrainian officials who stated in interviews dating to 2018 that the ledger was of suspicious origins and could not be corroborated.

If true, Gates’ account means the two key pieces of documentary evidence used by the media and FBI to drive the now-debunked Russia collusion narrative — the Steele dossier and the black ledger — were at best uncorroborated and at worst disinformation. His account also raises the possibility that someone fabricated the document in Ukraine in an effort to restart investigative efforts on Manafort’s consulting work or to meddle in the U.S. presidential election.

IIRC that was the document that put Manafort in prison, solitary confinement. Trump should pardon him and get him out of there tonight

It’s getting pretty obvious that nobody in the CIA or FBI is ever going to be arrested and prosecuted for their crimes. At a bare minimum, it seems very reasonable and defendable to pardon everybody that they persecuted and ruined financially in the coup attempt

The black ledger alleging payments to Manafort was used as evidence to convict him of being an unregistered foreign agent and subsequent tax evasion.

Manafort was falsely convicted a d must be set free.

Hope so too but Trump seems to be opposed to pardons. Why he cannot see the crap thrown on him was also on those falsely thrown in prison.

The black ledger was widely reported to be fake in mid-2019, so this is not new info. You can google up many reports.

I believe this “black ledger” was a fabrication, designed to disrupt the Trump campaign (forcing Manafort to resign) as well as to justify further investigation inside the Trump campaign. Another example of DNC/HRC partisans using foreign interference to influence the election.

I have not seen the ledger itself, but an alternate theory is that there really is a ledger book and it contains many more names than just Manafort’s - on both sides of the aisle. Thus, it is in everyone’s interest to say it is a forgery. Just a thought.

No, Manafort was not charged for anything on that document. But you could make the argument that this document opened up the investigation that uncovered the other crimes he was charged with.

If the entire Mueller investigation is the result of unsubstantiated information, lies, forgeries one could argue all the convictions are fruit of the poisonous tree.

When Giuliani examined this document he joked that at least the Mafia would have taken a match to the edges to make it look like it might have been in a fire. It didn’t even smell like smoke.

The question that John Solomon didn’t answer in the article is, Where did this Black Ledger come from?.

The answer, as he knows, is that this was the evidence that resulted from the meeting in January 2016 between Eric Ciaramella, his NSC associates at the WH, and select Ukrainian prosecutors like Andreyi Telezhenko who were told to dig up dirt on Trump and his campaign. The fake was passed to Alexandra Chalupa who was a DNC and Clinton campaign operative working in Ukraine who passed it to the FBI through Nellie Ohr and leaked it to Michael Issakoff of Yahoo News. Just days after this was published Manafort was forced to resign amid a press storm. So much for no evidence that Ukraine meddled in our 2016 election.

yet this attempted coup continued right thru the mid-term elections, which undoubtedly suppressed some of the GOP votes.

in fact, how come the entire investigation into interference into the 2016 election didn’t pivot to Clinton/DNC/Obama/Perkins Coie/FusionGPS/intel agencies domestic & foreign the moment it was known Clinton/DNC funded the phony Steele dossier???

get on with the indictments of those who tried to stop Trump becoming President, and then moved on to plotting a coup, WHICH IS ONGOING TO THIS DAY.

“It’s getting pretty obvious that nobody in the CIA or FBI is ever going to be arrested and prosecuted for their crimes. “

Not obvious at all. The offense is just starting.
