The White House asked scientists to rapidly assess the origins of the new coronavirus, which started in China in December 2019 and has since spread to over two dozen countries, including the United States.

Dr. Kelvin Droegemeier, director of The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, conveyed the request to Dr. Marcia McNutt, president of the National Academy of Sciences, in a letter this week.

The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine should “rapidly examine information and identify data requirements that would help determine the origins of 2019-nCoV,” Droegemeier wrote, using another name for the...

No, the Communist party will not allow the US help in an overt way. Many are using this virus to speak out against the communist there for freedom. They will not let us help...we are the bad guys in their propaganda.

I want to know why the mortality rate in Hubei province is 42%, and outside of it is 2.2%.

https://gisanddata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/opsdashboard/index.html#/bda7594740fd40299423467b48e9ecf6

Is it all just bogus figures? Is it a collapsed healthcare system in Hubei, with knowledge of how to treat it able to be used where the health-care system is still functional?

Or is it that what is going on in Hubei is something else?

In the past when those agencies were honest, I think that job would have been best served by the CIA and NSA.

My wife reads Chinese sources. The scuttlebutt out of China says that the virus came from a military laboratory. That lab sells its test animals to the locals for food.

I don’t think so. They eat mainly insects like ants and termites.

They curl up into a ball like an armadillo.

Wiki:

Pangolins are insectivorous. Most of their diet consists of various species of ants and termites and may be supplemented by other insects, especially larvae. They are somewhat particular and tend to consume only one or two species of insects, even when many species are available to them. A pangolin can consume 140 to 200 g (4.9 to 7.1 oz) of insects per day.[24] Pangolins are an important regulator of termite populations in their natural habitats.[25]
Pangolins have very poor vision, so they rely heavily on smell and hearing. Pangolins also lack teeth; therefore they have evolved other physical characteristics to help them eat ants and termites. Their skeletal structure is sturdy and they have strong front legs that are useful for tearing into termite mounds.[26] They use their powerful front claws to dig into trees, ground, and vegetation to find prey,[27] then proceed to use their long tongues to probe inside the insect tunnels and to retrieve their prey.
The structure of their tongue and stomach is key to aiding pangolins in obtaining and digesting insects. Their saliva is sticky,[26] causing ants and termites to stick to their long tongues when they are hunting through insect tunnels. Without teeth, pangolins also lack the ability to chew;[28] however, while foraging, they ingest small stones (gastroliths) which accumulate in their stomachs to help to grind up ants.[29] This part of their stomach is called the gizzard, and it is also covered in keratinous spines.[30] These spines further aid in the grinding up and digestion of the pangolin’s prey.

For scores of years, the CDC has gone into countries to help with such crises with promises that it does not reveal any information embarrassing to the countries/governments, or take credit if it’s the that CDC comes up with solutions.

The CDC in turn gets first hand info and experience.
