PITTS: So, Biden isn't expected to do well in New Hampshire. He has to do well in South Carolina which has a larger black vote. Race didn't come up in this debate until about nine minutes in and it came up from Tom Steyer who brought it up and then they engaged. One thing I have to say about all the candidates, when it came to the conversation about race 9 minutes in, I thought in some ways all the candidates were tone deaf. Because so often when they discuss race, it is about the pathology of the black experience not about the black- the dreams of African Americans. Because it came up in their conversation about criminal justice reform. I think that is a blind spot for them that will hurt them down the road.

Imagine the howling to come when the first candidate comes along who actually asks for the white vote as such. Trump came the closest in 2016, and the freak out continues.
They should get asked a Kobe Bryant question regarding the allegations and how it affects his legacy. I’m confident that everyone of them would no longer be viable after the answer. If “the right” controlled the media the Democrats would be be very easy to take out.
The democrat vision for black communities:
Live in government subsidized squalor. Send your parentless children to failing schools. Enable and protect drug-related gang warfare. Be sure to vote dem!
Honestly, the ABC analyst is correct. Trump doesn’t talk about the past, institutional racism, etc. Trump talks about the future, dreams, goals and how to accomplish them. Couple that with historically low black unemployment it makes for a hard line to toe for the democrats.
Now that I am writing this, it deflates their entire divisive argument regarding race in the United States.
Well, maybe because their focus groups are telling them race is not an “issue” in the campaign until they get to SC.
If it were an “issue” you could bet Biden would be offering a standing ovation for Mike Brown and Trayvon.
If I were black I would be highly offended by the Democrat party because they think if you are black you are too stupid to make it and be successful in life without an advantage over everybody else. Democrats are the worst thing that ever happened to black people. Generations that have been raised on welfare and always being told that they are being kept down has prevented so many from succeeding in life.

You can't have it both ways, Pitts. So are blacks perpetual victims (pathology) or just like everyone else (dreams)? If you were intellectually honest you'd see there is a "candidate" who acknowledges the latter, but you are far from intellectually honest.

I think we need a national discussion about racism. Exactly how should it properly be defined?
Regarding blacks, this land of opportunity has worked well for them for they have substantial numbers in every aspect of American society and modern culture. And it has become successful because the white people willed it happen. I know of no area of American life where black people are not only welcome, but are already succeeding. Is it necessary to continue coddling them by guarding words, yearbook pictures, etc?? Must anyone be labeled a racist simply for disagreeing with them or some racial-related thought?
This racism rant must come to an end.
Except for a few small, insignificant pockets where it will never be eradicated, America is not a racist nation. There in no nation on the earth which has assimilated and entire population as has the USA. Justice Thomas is an excellent example of opportunities for all — the American dream!
As evidence of exactly what you are saying, note the recent “warning” by Van Jones (revolutionary communist turned highly paid network talking head), that President Trump was doing “real things” that helped black peoples’ lives. IOW, Trump’s approach is “positive” whereas the Democrats are negative.
Republicans are “supposed to” harp on black pathologies and reducing welfare, thus driving black American voters to the Democrat panderers. Trump is revolutionizing the Republican Party — no wonder the Dems and establishment are terrified.

This is actually a pretty astute observation. What he's saying is that Democrats always focus on the victimhood of black people, and emphasize the negative. They don't talk about jobs, and economic advancement -- the kind of things Trump is using to appeal to that vote.
I think he's absolutely right about that. Republicans are never going to win the votes of people who want to get ahead by maximizing their status as victims. But if we focus on the dreams of black people -- the same kind of dreams white people have for jobs, a positive economic future, etc., we can win a lot of those votes.
It's always the Democrats who are pitting one race against another in order to further their political agenda.
