Despite facing widespread criticism from prominent members from his own party following the debacle with the Iowa caucus, Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez had terse words for those who have called on him to step down from his post.
Absolutely not.
The DNC boss said Sunday that hes had to make tough decisions during his tenure and admitted that Iowa was a mess, but pointed to the success his party had in the 2018 midterms and Democrats expectations for Novembers general election as reasons why he wont be resigning.
Look at the last three years in my job when I came in was to rebuild our infrastructure, to win elections, Perez said in an interview on CNNs State of the Union. We have been winning. This is what it's about. I think it's really important for people to take a broader step back right now.
Perezs comments come amid calls from a number of Democrats in Congress for him to relinquish his post.
Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y.; Ilhan Omar, D-Minn.; and Pramila Jayapal, D-Wash., have all called on Perez to be held accountable for the confusion that arose following last weeks Iowa caucus.
Whats happened in Iowa is a complete disgrace and someone needs to be held responsible, Ocasio-Cortez said outside the U.S. Capitol on Friday. I think theres a conversation needed around taking responsibility for Iowa and ensuring that this bungled process never happens again.
These comments come after Congressional Black Caucus Chairwoman Rep. Marcia Fudge of Ohio also slammed Perez.
He doesnt lead on anything, Fudge told Politico.

Democrats NEVER willingly give up power.
But he’s part of the Clintons’ stranglehold on the DNC, so he stays.
No freakin’ way does Hillary give up power voluntarily.
Its been officially denied.
Hes toast.

The Iowa debacle really does not fall on him. People should be fired, but firing him for this would be like firing the head of GM because someone died in a car crash.
Out within a week then. People who are not being pressured to resign don’t put out statements like this.
He only has one strike against him.
If he can successfully rig either New Hampshire or Nevada (without getting caught, of course) he gets to keep his job.
Dont retire, Tommy. The party needs you.
Why would he resign? The caucus went as planned. Take down Bernie Sanders and if that’s not possible, delay the results to slow his momentum.
[[but firing him for this would be like firing the head of GM because someone died in a car crash.]]
Which iron ically the left want to do
Isn’t the Iowa party chairman the obvious person to resign, or perhaps the entire Iowa party committee?
Good keep him around hes an incompetent fool
He doesnt lead on anything, Fudge told Politico.
So Buttigieg isn’t in the Fudge-PAC, I guess.
The Iowa party chairman is gay, he’s not going anywhere. He’ll stay.
The app and formula came from the DNC. Developed by Clinton cronies.
State party was overruled when they wanted a simpler system.
Dems are a top down operation.
Oh, that does make a difference.
My nominees?
Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y.; Ilhan Omar, D-Minn.; and Pramila Jayapal, D-Wash
Marcia Fudge?
Isnt that both racist and homophobic?
Tom ... does the name Seth Rich ring a bell?
I have my own theory on SR & the emails are not what I’m thinking.
Just when you think you understand the Iowa Caucus they somehow (intentionally?) screw it up more.
